Don't know what I want

LOL...try rock climbing. My friends begged me to go with them and I refused for about a month thinking it was stupid and boring and "why do I want to get up at 7 in the morning on a satuday just to climb a stupid mountain?" Boy was i wrong. Went with them once about 3 months ago and since then I bought two kits and haven't looked back since. Seriously the most fun I had and will have! Its relaxing and build self esteem at the same time.

Alcohol is for people that cant deal with reality!

Since I can remember I've always been fascinated with new things. Every day I want to do different thing. I would do it for a bit then a couple days later I would have found something new I want to try and focus on that.

Like for example I would start studying for a course then a week later I would already have moved on to something else like play guitar for a bit then couple days later on to the next thing.

Here are just a couple of things I’ve been interested in at different times in the last month:

Paintball
Skydiving
Kite surfing
Studying different course
Running
Kick Boxing
Guitar
Piano
Building Servers for fun
Buy a boat
Buy a Flat
Buy Scrambler
Learn to Dance
Mixed Martial Arts
Restore a Vintage Car
Learn Social Arts
Start a Business
Join the French foreign Legion
Buy a LCD
Mountain Biking
Go Tiger Fishing
Learn to Fly Fish

This is just a couple of things I can go on. The problem is next month there would be a list of new things.
I can’t seem to focus on just one thing my mind just drifts onto the next thing.

How can I stop and only be interested in one thing at a time?

SAme here , Is this type of thinking / way common among IT people ? I am just guessing ....

I wanted a new car 6 months ago ... then property ... then another type of car a month ago ... now I've just bought weights/bench ... I'll probably get bored soon - but I'm hoping not!

Go see a shrink...:D

Pick a few of the healthier / outdoors things and give them a go, I think those are the things that will make you feel the best when doing them.

the problem is that you don't have money. i found myself wanting a lot of things when i don't have money... :p

have money first then you can do all of the above and you will see what you like... if you had money then all of the above would not be an issue and the list would be smaller:D when you have money you are satisfied by the simplest of things... like time alone to yourself, buying a cd, driving a different car every now and then, get it... :D

for me money is what i want. it makes me happy:D:p

I don't think money is really the problem as I can do a few of the things at a time.

So I'm busy making a list of all the things I've ever wanted to do. So far I'm up to 89 but it keeps on growing. Will work on it for a week or so and when I'm finished I will start a blog and then try and work through the entire list.

Maybe this will help. What do you think?

Dude...

You say you're interested in these things, but how many of them have you actually tried?

Easiest way to decide which you'd prefer ... start with the cheapest one and work your way up. If you enjoy something - stick to it, if you don't, move along.

Otherwise, just start playing WoW and you won't have time left in your life for anything else.

then why not do them??? ...

money will afford you time to do all of them...

like someone aid how many of these have you tried? it's one thing to have a list, but another thing to actually take time and follow through and do them...

I was in a similar predicament some time back. I was just bored with life in general. I finally bought the bike that I've been planning on buying for the last 15 years and started riding. It was the best decision I could ever make. Now I'm out whenever the sun's out and there's always somewhere to go and something to do. Bored? Get on the bike and ride in any direction. If it gets dark, stop at the first guesthouse you see, unload, drink a few beers/bourbons at the bar and chat with the locals. By doing this, you find out what's fun to do in the area. Next day, wake up and do what was recommended to you.

You'll NEVER be bored again. :)
