Don't know where my software download is going?

Okay, I'm not good at this sort of thing, so please bear with me :o

Downloaded a software program called Scrapbookflair through Mozilla. It's an exe file. After the download completed, I did a search for it, but it seems to have disappeared.

Please, can anyone help?
 
Download something AGAIN... while it's downloading, push CTRL + J to see the downloads screen, right click on the 'downloaded' file and say "open location" (or something like that)

The Downloads screen automatically pops up when downloading. When I right click, the options are :

Open
Open containing folder
Go to Download page
Copy Download link
Select all
Remove from list

The first 2 are 'greyed', so I can't click on them.

Now what?

Correct.

On the menu bar Click Tools->Downloads. In Downloads window, right the click on the item, and select Open containing folder.

Or click Tools->Options. Under the Main Tab you can see where Firefox stoes downloaded fles.
(You can change the Download Location if you want )

Sorry I didn't see that post.
An item usually gets greyed out when you have move the file to another location.

Try search the entire pc for files less that 2 days old, for example.

Use Windows Search... unless you also Fail at that?

Sorry... just pulling your leg... not trying to be mean! :)
 
Hi. Click on "Tools" then "options". Under the "general" tab (the first window that should open). Select option "always ask me where to save files". Now when you download you can select the location you want to save the file too, such as the desktop, Hope this helps.

Tried that. no files with the name specified found. Very confusing, coz it did complete downloading. I notice this happens alot with.exe files while with others like Pdf etc, I have no problem finding them.

Thanks, I just did that. Going to try downloading something small, let's see what happens...

desktop? You FAIL too i'm afraid....

How full do you think that desktop is gonna get after a day or two? Rather put it in C:\Downloads :)
 
I just downloaded another .exe file to desktop as suggested. Checked once download completed, nothing there!

Now when I download images, Word docs, Pdf etc to desktop, I've never had a problem.

Really, what now people?
 
If this helps, when I try to open any .exe file, I get the following message :

whateverthefilename.exe is not a valid win32 application.

Those are the ones that are on the computer.

As for any .exe files I download now, I'm not even able to find them.
 
Can you get yourself a Download manager such as Orbit? It's free... and it will keep track of your downloads.
 
Look in C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp for any big files.

Also search for files with extension .part (maybe your download didn't really complete)

and search for files on size , say, > 50MB

gdiza, do you need a pill for empathy? You seem to have lost the ability to be nice.
Perhaps you should take a closer look at your need to post in an offensive manner.

@Poster: There is also a pretty good chance that your anti-virus program has removed the file(s). Are you using an Anti-Virus program?
 
I'm a SHE! I'll try the above suggestions as soon as I'm back home...
