DONT SIGN ANY CONTRACTS NOW !

I don't think this will make much difference. Only a small percentage of people will end up doing it as prepaid is just more expensive. The ISP's will be making money off the prepaid anyway, and so won't notice.

Data prepaid is cheaper than contract.

Prepaid 350MB bundle costs R169.00
Prepaid 500MB bundle costs R189.00
Diffs = R20.00

Contract 350MB bundle costs R209.00
Contract 500MB bundle costs R249.00
Diffs = R40.00

Thus you get penalized by R20.00 for having 150MB more on contract.
I have posted this before and nobody could get this.

I have just never considered mobile data myself.... I am just not sure why you would when you compare the cost of a Gig on ADSL (R69 odd) compared to mobile!

Totally daft! Thing is... contract = prepaid PLUS a guarantee to the provider that you will be a client for 2 years. You still pay for the month in advance short of additional billing.

Don't the contracts include a device subsidy?

Prepaid all the way!!! Contracts are usually much more expensive once you analyse it, plus any cost reductions are rarely passed through.

And do you really know what's ahead of you for the next two years to commit to 24 months? It's such a very long time.

Pre Paid is the way to go. Since you have the movement to switch if there is a better offer, remember in 2 years we will alreaddy have hosted the 2010 world cup, the data prices would have had to come down by then and fiber cables put to use.

But the contract users will ensure that certain corporations don't need to feel pressure to get flexible with their prices.

You pay a subsidy for the modem, yes, but if you increase your bundle, the subsidy increases as well.
That is my arguement. It should increase proportionally to prepaid.
