Doodles Pub any Good?

I know the Royal Oak very very well..... Been there numerous times as they have Guinness on Tap! In fact I was last there about a year back!

The other reason why I like going there, is to hear all the British accents again....

What was the pub diagonally across the road from The Royal Oak called? Closed down a few years back..... Had one of the best Scottish wakes ever there....

That's the one! I got the impression it was, but there were about 60 Scots and a piper that were in attendance that day!

We had just buried a mate and I had driven my father down from Namibia for the funeral....

Hell! It sounds bad, what a party, It's been a long time since I had heard so much Scottish folk music....

Doodles is ok... nothing to write home about. Been there a few times as they are in the entertainer.

Steak 4/10, Burger 5/10, Pizza 7/10.
Nice view so usually super packed on a nice day.
Drinks are not cheap but not ridiculous either.

I haven't been to doodles, but if you aren't happy, I can recommend Saints Burger Joint in big bay. The 'Going Down Slowly' is a pulled pork burger which was the best I have ever eaten. I don't give that title easily.

Great Food and Milkshakes

Pity the SO and I got ill the last time we ate there. Loved their burgers.

Like any Namibian Scotsman, I Googled around to see which bars might be in the vicinity of where I be squatting, found a place called Doodles.

Is this place any good?

Is there much violence in the place?

Do they play 80's music?

Be there graffiti on the bog doors?

Are there pretty looking waitresses ?

Are the clientele older folk or youngsters?

What be the range of beer on tap like?

Is the nosh worth it?

That's about all I can think of right now....

What kinda vibe are you looking for. that used to be my home yard for the past 5 years.

You got Doodles: Social, mixed crowd, at night the bar starts pumping club music, pizza's are good, craft beers on tap
Blue Peter: Weekends got live bands, Food is Ok, Beer is good, hunter & beer on tap
Buckleys: More alternative music, don't think they make food, beer is good, pool tables

Jesus, I cannot believe you dared mention Buckleys :sick:

Don't worry, there's no graffiti in the kackhouses, they play 80's depending on which artist/DJ is playing on that night, the food is fairly good, they have about 7 or 8 beers on tap, there used to be pretty waitresses, these days is average :o

No violence, the clientele is literally 18-70+, starting at 1 or 2 in the restaurant area :p

All in all, it's allright.

Infinity, ja they stole the old peoples money years back. Property investment scheme.

For the last 2-3 years they do maintenance like re-painting and cleaning windows and can see the chairs etc inside.

Seems you brought a warm day with you to us! Enjoy our side of town!

I am only heading back to Namibia on Tuesday morning, I have plans at the moment...but sometime b4 I duck I will invite you both over to the pub for a quick dop and to give you a book from my end of the world....

As for today Waterfront and tourist stuff.... :)

+1 doing some wine farms today. Leaving on Monday.
 
Sorry..was on Robben Island..back late..emotional for me...All the tourist types rushing to Mandela cell...we went to Toivo Ya Toivo's cell...who believe it or not happens to be a friend of mine...will tell you that tale when I return to Nam..as I want to expose something I experienced today..... in Doodles for nosh with MiddlebornMoose...sorry...
