Well it's shipping today from HK with DHL. Cost R3330 delivered. I've decided to go back to IP68 devices after a few near mishaps with my Doogee Mix.

Android 7.1
Helio P23 Octa Core up to 2.5GHz + ARM Mali G71 MP2 800MHz
6Gb+ 64Gb
2 SIM slots and a SD slot (no longer shared with SIM2)
5180mAh Battery
5.7" 1440 x 720 pixels 279ppi
4G (FDD-LTE 800(B20)/900(B8)/1800(B3)/2100(B1)/2600(B7)MHz)
250g

Not the lightest phone but better than you would expect from an IP68 Tri phone. I'm not a mobile gamer so not looking for a gaming quality device, but still want something mid range. Will easily get 2 days battery usage and the camera is fine for quick snaps.

Expected life span 10 months due to the environment I work in. I change phones every 8-12 months anyway.

Hope to have a good review of it in a few week's time once I've played with it a bit.

Hi Dairyfarmer.
From what site did you order?
I bought the Doogee S60 November 2017, and it seems to be holding up great. I bought it through https://ruggedsa.co.za/collections/rugged-phones to have some kind of local support. Obviously you will pay a premium for this.

Now my brother in law is looking for something similar.

I got mine on SunSky. They were the same price as GearBest but offered DHL over Aramex (I'm a bit p'ed off with Aramex lately). They were only due for shipping around the beginning of April. They were delayed from the manufacturer by a 2 weeks and some were released last week.

Just looking at the Doogee S30. They are R1225 +R215 Aramex = R1460 (R1930 with vat and duty if you get charged) . Ruggedsa wants R3999 (down from R4999). R2000 more.

The S60 R3065+R290 Aramex = R3355 (R4436 with vat and duty if you get charged). Ruggedsa wants R8499 (down from R9349). That is R4060 more.

So Ruggedsa is adding about 100% onto their price before their wholesale discount.

As a wholesaler, Rugged SA can only offer problem-solving for faulty products which either shipped in an unsatisfactory condition or developed internal faults naturally during usage without issues of physical damage or unsupported usage.

So that "local support" isn't a local warranty. Don't be fooled.

I had a look at the specs. The cameras looks impressive but why oh why is there no wireless charging and NFC! The S60 has wireless charging and NFC. It's like one step forward and two steps back. It's such a disappointment.

S60 is apparently very buggy. I was close to ordering one but opted for the S50. I would have paid the extra for wireless and NFC in the S50 though. Also would have helped with keeping the ports closed off.

I wonder if they are going to release a Doogie "S 70" perhaps. Something with the cameras of the S 50 but retaining the wireless charging and NFC.

I somehow think the new S 50 was a stop gap to compete with the new Blackview BV 9000 pro which looks similar in spec to the S 50.

I have the BV 8000 pro. Not impressed with the camera.

I've never expected much from cell phone cameras. I have a very nice DSLR camera for that. Only need a phone camera for IM and taking reference pictures.

Doogee have some nice phones in development. There is a slider, flexible screen and pop out camera. But the one to watch out for is the Doogee V. It's going to be a huge phone. 6.2 inches AMOLED FHD+ Display (1080 x 2160 Pixels)

Should have it Tuesday or Wednesday. Depends on the day the courier comes this way.

R335 vat and duty. Still comes in less that R4K.

I think a 5.7" is just going to be as big as I can have in my pocket.

DHL has sent mine out from PMB this morning. Should have it tomorrow.

I have a S60 (replying from it ATM) and am very happy with it :-)

Solid battery life, very rugged and decent camera.

I had a T5 and before that the DG700. The S60 is its BIG brother. I wish I had known that they were ok now because I was so close to ordering one. I wanted the wireless charging. I think this is important in a tri protection phone as you so seldom need to open the flap on the usb.

I do hope that Doogee makes a completely sealed phone one day: dual eSIM, wireless charging, no usb or headphone jack, 128Gb storage.

Oh and on battery life, all my (and my wife's) Doogees have had fantastic battery life.

My S60 has duel SIM + came with 64GB
I added a 64GB SD card for 128GB total.

I charge wirelessly and listen to music via Bluetooth - never open any of the sealed covers :-)

Would be nice if Doogee officially brought these in

Cash Crusaders sells them, but just the budget models. At least the cost is similar to buying from China including vat and duty.

RuggedSA also sells the IP68 ones but adds 100% markup (before volume discount) and offers "local support" only (have a look at what they classify local support as, it's not a local warranty).

Arrived with DHL today. Only paid R355 in vat and duty. It feels so good in the hand. Lighter than I expected and a nice firm grip.

It is a bit bigger than my Doogee Mix 5.5" screen. Booted up quite quickly, but I didn't go into the setup yet.

Driving up to Midrand for Huntex on Thursday afternoon (7 hours) so, when it's the wife's turn to drive, I'll be fiddling. I'll take a few photos at the show and report back next week.

One one piece of bloatware, Zello (a PTT app) but can be uninstalled. The rest is the usual basic stuff. So pre setup it's 11 of the 64 or 128 Gb storage used. I added my Google account, GMail, Telegram, YR and Microsoft Launcher. Memory usage is now hovering around 1.4 of 4Gb.

The fingerprint sensor on the back is well placed. Better than on the front. It reads my finder almost every time and is quick enough. I do have problems with my fingers always being dirty and scared so I'm happy it works. On other phones I have had to redo my fingerprint every few weeks. So lets see how accurate this is after a few weeks.

Ringtones and notification sounds: comes with just 5 ringtones and 4 notification tones. That is it! No more long list of useless sounds.

Android 7.1.1 and Android security patch 05/02/2018 on delivery. I see there is a Doogee OTA update released 23/4/2018. So still need to do that.

Sound quality is great. Possible because I'm on MTN. Picks up 4G where I know there is 4G. External speaker is loud with the alarm. Have to turn that down a bit.

Phone is solid and sits in the hand well. So far it's par for the course as far as Doogee build quality. Well finished off and stylish even for an IP68 tri phone. Rubber flap on the headphone, usb and sim carrier are nice and seat well. The usb is on the bottom, the headphone on the top and sim carrier on the side. Far better than the T5 and DG700's massive flaps.

More to come on day to day usage.

Ok I've had my new phone a week and it has run the usual gambit of tasks that it is required to.

It is slightly taller that my previous phones so it does stick out my pocket a bit, but it is heavy enough to stay put. I walked around Huntex for 2 days and hardly noticed that it was with me, except when the wife and son were using my credit cards.

It functions flawlessly and has not crashed once or needed a reboot. It uses about 30% battery for the day, as opposed to 45% on my Doogee Mix. I have not run the battery pasted 50% yet and recharge every night. It stayed connected to by Everest's bluetooth for both the 7 hour trips to and from GP. previous Doogee phones I have had have, occasionally, disconnected after a few hours connected to bluetooth.

The fingerprint reader on this one is great. I did add the same finger 3 times and it never misses. Opens quickly too.

Screen is good and works well in bright sunshine.

All in all a nice phone.

Ok so going on 3 weeks now.

I am running 2 sims (MTN and Telkom) so using upto 45% battery every day.
Edit: Also note that I have wifi, BT and location on all the time. Wifi only connects to my router at home (evenings and meal times). BT I use to listen to music which is very, very seldom (average 1 hour per day). I do know that location uses battery, but not so much that I panic about the battery going below 40% in a single day.

I spent the weekend at home this last weekend and only used 20% the whole weekend. So good "standby" time there. Wifi was on and connected.

All is going well. No problems so far. Dropped it a few times and I has landed in the water more than once.

I quickly got used to size and weight. Much prefer the fingerprint sensor on the back and have logged both right and left fingers. Haven't tried the facial recognition yet. Don't think it would recognise me in the mornings anyway.

One thing I wish: reprogramming the SOS button to something useful.

Look out for the new BL9000.
