Doom Eternal

If even half of what Mick is saying is true, then Marty needs his backside fired, simple as that.

  • I haven’t been paid for over half of DOOM Eternal’s music
  • OST: It was announced, with my name attached, and made available for pre-order before I was contracted to produce it
  • In his “Open Letter” posted on Reddit, Marty later claimed that his decision to enlist Chad happened at the last minute and was due to fears I wouldn’t make the April 16 deadline. But the files Chad sent me tell a different story. Perhaps unknown to Marty, BWF Metadata details the exact creation date, time and software used by whoever made the edits. Metadata in Chad’s files show he began work on their alternative OST as far back as August 2019 (six months before I received the OST contract).

Lies, theft (practically), disregard for consumer protection laws, defamation....How is this guy an exec at this company? If they treated Mick like this, how do they treat other contractors?

Again, not insinuating there aren't two sides, but Mick seems to at least have a sizeable amount of evidence to support his claims.

I have to say, I was pretty much unaware of the drama when Doom Eternal came out. I vaguely remember things about people analyzing the music and complaining about it, but that's about it.

I took the solid hour or so to properly read Mick's long post, and then Marty's reddit post and holy hell, I am disappointed in how Bethesda and Id have handled things and a rather shocked. If Mick is telling the truth, the poor dude has had some serious weights on his shoulders.

I am interested to see what comes of this - hoping the honorable thing happens and they are able to reconcile.

Micks post is well worth the read. It's hella long, but the details are quite spicy.

The in game music is Mick's mixing and mastering. Although this post he made describes payment problems even then.

The ost (Purchasable sound track) where the snippets of wize files are mixed into songs was mixed by a dude who really doesn't know what he was doing. It's a seriously spicy story. I remember him responding to a dude analysing the compression of the song saying that no way mick did this where he responded: "I did not mix and master this."

Everything exploded after that.

It was a crazy read - can't believe it was an hour's worth, but it was utterly damning of Marty's despicable behaviour on behalf of ID Software.

There is no doubt in my mind that Mick got screwed by this corporate gangster and he tried every avenue to avoid having to make this post - but he has clearly been pushed so far that it's come to this.

His claims are very well substantiated and with the corporate lawyers on the side of ID Software, I highly doubt that he's misrepresenting anything as that could only backfire.

I see I'm not the only one

With this mod you can play the game as a shooter, not the butcher pulling the loot out of pinata-monsters .

DE is actually a lot better if you just enable ammo drop, ammo pickup and increase ammo scale. For the "its a skill game/let me rape the new game loop™ down your throat" - I have ghostrunner / seum / q3defrag for that. Thanks. Doom is... insert and kill demons.

Finally finished this. What an experience that was! I see the Ancient Gods expansion is dirt cheap on Steam. Definitely going to pick it up.
