Dota 2

Im not arguing that it reflects their skill, im arguing that it reflects their experience.

Anyway, that's my opinion.
Someone can start a brand new account at level 1 while their main is in the 1000s. It isn't an accurate reflection of skill or experience. It is extremely easy to dupe it.

So where would I see my MMR then? Can I check it on DOTAbuff.com or in-game only?
Dotabuff gives you a general skill bracket for the game (Normal, High or Very High Skill).

If I recall correctly anything below 2.5K MMR is considered Normal Skill. 2.5 - 3.5K is High Skill and beyond that is Very High Skill.

I think opendota.com has an MMR estimation system that is more specific (like it will actually give you an estimation of your personal MMR).

If you haven't played ranked yet you won't have a visible MMR in the dota client. Only an invisible unranked one.

Well duh, of course, Im talking about a lvl 21 vs a lvl 70 as their main account and no bought levels or has played dota 1.

You cant tell me they will have the same experience.

In that very very specific cirucmstance then yes I agree. Unfortunately as it is impossible to tell whether or not an account fits into your narrow scenario, that makes account levels unreliable indicators of skill.

I get where you are coming from and it's correct to a degree. A higher level does mean more experience, but that does not mean that the person is any good. In a perfect world it might be, but as other people said its not how matchmaking works.

Seems this game is stuttering/lagging quite a bit on Afrihost. :/

The stuttering is to do with the Mweb servers that host Dota in SA.

Next time it stutters, try Eu server, you'll see it's fine.

lol and we really having the Dota Level argument again?
Maybe a last one on that, I have a friend that's REALLY good at Dota...he started a smurf account and after 10 games, yes 10, he was playing Very High Skill again.

I got a steam friend who is level 300 something he literally plays Invoker all day every day for years and he is an ok Invoker. This guy is the rage king misses all his spells then blames everyone but himself for losing a fight its hilarious. He tried to carry through DGL that was the funniest thing I watched Anti-mage with free farm and at 40 mins he had bf, treads and yasha. I think he calibrated to 1100 mmr and has increased to 1500mmr.

Then got another steam friend who is around 300 who has been up to 7k mmr a few times but is mainly a 6k player. Hes amazing to watch.

Ive given up trying to be a super pro player, I just don't have the time anymore. I used to be 4000-4500mmr on opendota but don't play for 2-4months between game sessions so I'm more at the 2700 - 3100 point now. I'm pretty happy here I get some high skill games and some normal skill games and usually play AR these days.

I'm starting to have fun again with dota as I don't take it so seriously anymore. Hated how toxic the very high skilled games were but understand why they were like that.

I'm also around the 4-4.5 k mmr and I would love to drop down to the 3k point :P
Need to throw some games haha

Yeah, the servers are pretty stuffed at the moment. My regular crowd and I had a couple of games last night. I coached one where the lag made it impossible to play for the rest of the guys. Next game I played, first 5 minutes last hitting was really tough... After that it improved and was fine. So whatever is causing the issue on the servers is super random.

I played one game last night and gave up. It is way too laggy. Getting 10% packet loss to those servers. Something very wrong.

My ranked MMR is about 1.8K MMR. Down there is also toxic. I think only that middle 2.5-3.5K MMR is where guys are competent enough to understand the game's dynamics but don't really take it too seriously.

I also like the All Random mode. People seem to take All Random far less seriously so it ends up being more fun.

Are guys still having lag issues?

Played some DGL games last night. Games 1 and 3 were fine, but game 2 was like playing a powerpoint presentation.... Literally had to click like a second ahead of when I think I could last hit. Was horrible.

Yeah and on top of it its taking 15 - 20 minutes to find a game everytime.

Anyone noticing the influx of low level people in games?

Dont come tell me it matched me up with people of my own skill, i dont have the same amount of skill as a lvl 24.

Guys, if you have the time, please go to below link and upvote the reddit post I made earlier on today. Hoping to get it onto the Dota 2 front page so that someone at valve might see it and hopefully some action can be made...

Nice, upvoted, worth a try.

But I do believe the issue is with Mweb and not Valve. The way I see it the co-ordinater works fine, it's a pure server performance issue.
It's also not consistent, I played 2 games last night and it was fine, which, makes me believe there is a cluster or group of servers that simply doesn't perform as well as others. It all depends which one you get to use when you queue up.

Has anybody tried getting a response from Mweb rather?
