Dota 2

lmao, thanks for the laugh, made my day :crylaugh:

Glad somebody got a good chuckle out of it :D

People are so scared of change!

I don't see the reason to be a doom-prophet. I'm sure will take a while to get used to it but after a few weeks will just be Dota again.

As for the Ant-mage question....

You get a FU-Mage.

(Also, anybody consider the chaos of a Chaos Knight + Aghs + Terrorblade combo??)

It's not so much being a doom-prophet, it's just the fact that what Valve is going for and trying to do with this update, a lot of it has been done already in other mobas before, we've seen that it doesn't work, and that what they're envisioning isn't really what happens in reality with these kinds of systems. Take a look at LoL for example, they've had it implimented from 2011 (Could be longer, that's just when I was checking it out at least), and it's still follows the same trend I mentioned before.

Hopefully my download will be done by the time I get home.

Still quite excited for the updates.

Anyone had any games yet with the new patch? Are the severs working? Are you finding games?

I watched a couple games last night with the test client and new patch. The thing that threw me off mostly was the re-positioning of all the neutral camps, plus the addition of one or two more, including the shrine that heals you which is also in the jungle. Not to mention the bounty rune which also spawns in the jungle.

More shocking was that you could creep pull mid lane, not sure if this has been changed in the final release.

Naah, played a few games last night and after 2 or 3 it was just good ol' Dota again.

I just kept on missing the fact that I leveled up :)
HUD is decent, shrines are a nice-to-have, new jungle is just different.
30sec strat timer will be nice for pubs but we 5-stacked so made no difference.

Every game we just let the other team pick Monkey King and then we countered it hard with Timber. EZ GG.

Only thing I don't like is the Street Fighter 2 pre-loading screen thingy.
And Enigma got an Abflex for Xmas.

I watched Alliance vs E something or other last night, they both still looked unsure what to pick. All teams reverted to the old picks which was rather boring.

The game did however seem more fast paced as heroes leveled much quicker.

I wanted to watch OG play, but sadly it got to late :(

The casters all pretty much said the teams need more time figuring out the new patch since it's only been a day.

Played one game last night and watched Dendi play two games.

In both of Dendi's games he had over 1000gpm by 40mins and the games were pretty over at that point. He would get his bottle and some treads then hit the jungle, you never run out of mana because there are so many runes on the map so you can just spam down each neutral camp and move on. Plus every rune is 100 gold which doesn't hurt.

Dendi also bought Midas as his 4th-7th item, then just swapped it out midas swap back in. This made his big items come in no time.

The runes make farming a bit OP I think. Having a bad lane, buy a bottle, go farm and 5-10 mins later you the richest in the game.

In my game I just couldn't find the point the shrines, they just seem so unnecessary. You almost kill the carry he just gets away, he hits the shrine and carries on farming with almost full life and mana. He should at least have some downtime for being caught out of position but instead you are punished for an unsuccessful gank.

Maybe the shrines will grow on me, gonna reserve my judgement till then.

I'm ok with the other changes although the skill trees are horribly out of balance from hero to hero but I'm sure they will be patched for some balance.

Beware! of the root on a stacked ancient camp that hurts.

Is it just me or is that monkey heavy strong. Played 3 games in a row on the same team as him and won all 3. Played against him twice and lost both times...

Build armor items, he has very high damage which will be reduces by armor items. Also for every 1 monkey king there are 4 retarded monkey king players so its not that bad

I also feel Monkey King needs a nerf.
I randomly played him twice yesterday, haven't played him yet and I did well even though I don't play the hero.

For instance this game yesterday - https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/2860976162
We were getting crushed early on by a 5 man vs our 4 man, the random in the team fed so hard mid and even abandoned the game.
Ended up winning 4 v 5 (70 mins+) and our support Alchi got a bit farmed as well.

And that Lycan who was 28-5 who was crushing us, I saw his solo mmr is 5.8 k and party is 5.1 so no wonder we were battling against him :)

Yeah that seems to be the case whenever a new hero comes along.
Underlord needed to be nerfed as well.
