Dota 2

RIP DotA.... This new HUD looks terrible IMO...

Edit: The new talent points is partly what gets me too, what's next? Bringing "smite", "flash" and "exhaust" and renaming the game to Defence of the League?

So who's going to host the new Twilight? ;)

Easier? Not so sure.
What makes it easier? If anything there is more mechanics and detail to look at.

This will be chaos but few weeks from now we will all settle down and just pick Lycan to win.
I like it.

I might be wrong, however looking at all the new scepter upgrades, it feels like team fights will be over in seconds, hence it being easier for new players as you'll need less skill/knowledge of the game to be successful.

That being said, I guess only time will tell what happens, but for now they chasing away their main source of income, older players that won't be bothered learning new things, like myself :p

Has anyone updated their client yet? I haven't got the update yet :-(

Do you know what time it will drop in SA?

No updates in SA yet as far as I can tell, asked a friend of mine, and he seems to be playing online without updating yet. I'm expecting it to be this evening, based on the way previous updates of this size have been.

Shall we all just do what's on our minds, and fire up some good ol trusty CoD 4 ProMod? ;)

I don't have the game anymore, but I can still remember my CD-Key off by heart ;_;

Black Ops is making a comeback in a big way. See a lot of old faces online and with my new interwebz I am playing with a sub 20ms ping. :) Gotta love it.

Haha yeah, it will take a while still before I get bored of it.

it's just so frustrating doing the medals, I can barely get 5 kills in an entire match, never mind 5 without dying :D
I did a few and gave up, I almost exclusively play operations now. I'd like to get back into dota but this patch. Eish. Everyone is a carry

Interesting reading everyone's view on 7.00

(I considered that this should have been Dota 3 - would have allowed them to leave Dota 2 as is for the diehards, but that has its own set of detractors)

I'm quite excited for the patch. To me it seems as if the skill tree will result in heroes having more diversity. Axe will not just be the same Axe in all games, but may be skilled differently by someone else for a particular situation (just using Axe as example).

The backpack seems a bit gimmicky. Takes away from the courier logistic and build planning in a way.

The side fountain too. Having to run back to the fountain always gave me time to check out other players, the map and to plan my next item. So, simply popping into a side fountain may impact on that aspect. Also have to wonder how it would affect tp usage.

But, all in all I'm excited about the patch. Would have been nice to have more warning in order to get off a nice game with the old patch, not sure I'd be able to get in a game before the patch kicks in tonight.

You see, the reason I'm struggling to get excited for the reason you are is because they've done this in LoL long ago already, and you pretty much just end up with people using the same kinds of skill trees.

edit: Resulting in overpowered heroes and people complaining about balancing, and then you end up with heroes that are under powered and people just using the "wrong skill tree" or "wrong rune map" goto excuse. As well as now countering doesn't work properly, making games more about "guess what skill tree I'm using"

TL;DR: Doesn't make any real effective difference compared to what is intended as well as half arsed breaking the counter picking.

So now what is going to happen when Alchemist buys Anti-mage a scepter, someone put Lotus orb on Anti and someone put linkins on Anti?

Anti mages new scepter upgrade: Causes Spell Shield to passively block and reflect a targeted spell once every 12 seconds.

You realize you're playing Defence of the League and cry in a corner with some beer. Already got myself a case in preparation.

I was excited for Monkey King, just didn't realize there was such a long list of terms and conditions....

lmao, thanks for the laugh, made my day :crylaugh:

I think this update will finally break Dota. They went way over the top this time around. I really hope to see the "old dota 2" in some kind of custom map without this silly changes! Or maybe a twilight dota 2 server coming back.

Anyhoo I will give this a try and see for myself. Anyone knows when the update will go live?

People are so scared of change!

I don't see the reason to be a doom-prophet. I'm sure will take a while to get used to it but after a few weeks will just be Dota again.

As for the Ant-mage question....

You get a FU-Mage.

(Also, anybody consider the chaos of a Chaos Knight + Aghs + Terrorblade combo??)
