Dota 2

We must really find a way not to lose after we rax first. We should put our foot down when we have the upper hand.

Yesterday we got nailed but the towers at the ancient and it swung the game around.

Wouldn't it have been better to immediately try to take a second rax after the first rax, there were still some of them dead at that time.

Have to agree, we need to keep the steam rolling, we always crush in the beginning and then taper off...

I've played a Team Death match and we got put up against 5 bots that all go top Lane. Needles to say they fed and their heroes ran out.

But that's understandable, as it wasn't an official mode yet..

The bots are actually from scripts that people make to have more chances to get items.

I just started playing Dota this wknd.
When I tried to play with humans after tutorials n what not, I couldn't find a game.
Is this normal?

When you start out it takes a little longer to find games, once you have played a couple games and gained some levels, the times will get progressively shorted averaging about 3 - 5 minutes to find a game.

It could be a couple of things. Check your search filters to make sure you search all pick, set your region to South Africa and make sure your language is English. If you still struggle it could be that it is due to your level. which means you will have to party up with other people until you get to a higher level.

I find if you searched for a ranked match you battle to find games. It also varies depending on the regions and game modes you've selected.

When I search I usually do All Pick, Single Draft and Random Draft on SA servers. I find I sometimes wait about 3-4 minutes for a game. Usually not longer though.

Well I haven't played a single game against humans yet so I assume my rank is 1.
I have it all setup as you mentioned.
I just got bored of waiting for a game and decided if I was waiting for a lobby it may as well be in CS:Go.

I'm also not quite decided on a character yet.
You usually don't just choose one hero and stick with him/her forever. Most players learn to play with a variety of heroes to fit different situations. You may want to use the Limited Heroes mode (or something like that, can't remember the exact name). This reduces the hero pool to 20 heroes that are less complicated and so easier to pick up for newer players.

I find Sniper is a somewhat easy hero for new players with his long range and limited number of active abilities vs. passive abilities.

Dont be too bogged down on one particular hero. You will do yourself a big favour by playing various roles with various heros. For the first few levels though play a support role, and be the best support you can be .Buy wards, buy courier, up courier. Keep your carries alive and farming and you will quickly build up levels and a lot of commends. Once you get to know the game better then you can switch to a carry role where you are expected to be the damage dealer and big play maker.

Yo don't need that stress when you just start playing - you will lose more than you win if you don't know what you are doing. Spectate some games of higher level players to see where they place wards and how the supports help the carries. We lost so many games because our supports were not supporting it's not even funny. If you do not have vision across the map then you WILL get ganked and your game will be ruined.

Deadman and I make a good team because I let him farm all the creeps and support wherever I can. If he gets in trouble I would rather let them kill me and help him get away than having them kill him because we are going to need him late game.

I don't understand half of what you said.
I understand the game dynamics being an old school Warcrat, starcraft player but it's all the smaller intricacies that I am just learning.
What to buy from the shops, what to upgrade, last hit farming, etc.

Good advice :)

Yip we do indeed Slaught3r supports like a boss!

:D

Support players do not take last hits in the creep waves (except if you are Chevron :p) you leave them to the carry hero so he can buy items as quickly as possible. The supports basically stand in the lane and harass the other teams carry to try and push them out of the lanes.

My suggestion would be to watch a few games to understand the basics or get a coach to play with you. Even better get into a party of 5 and let them guide you against bots. That understanding is the most important part of Dota and without it you will not enjoy the game because you will feel like you are just running around getting killed.
