Wanted to try ranked once, ended up waiting 10 mins before giving up.

There people that play ranked. If you don't want long wait times just select, EU West as well as SA.
I only play EU West though. Due to the larger player pool you are much better matched skill wise.
Forget about playing ranked games in SA. The playerbase is just too small.
But for some reason my ping is 350+ on other servers. Im with IS and have a 10mb line, is there any settings I could chnage that would help that?
It depends on what server you choose.

I live in CT, I have a webafrica and Axxess account. I'm checking my routes to the Mweb JHB and CT servers. My CT route goes via JHB back to CT, is that just because the DNS servers for webafrica are in JHB or is there some way to make it go direct to CT? Not sure if anyone has encountered this.
Basically picked it up by seeing my route to JHB had fewer hops.

How did the competition go?
Got a bit romped last week, but narrowly lost a game we probably should have won yesterday. I think this Sunday might be the last try...
Two of our players got rampages in yesterday's game, but their Faceless got fed and just kept pushing. We eventually couldn't kill him and called it 50 odd minutes in. Strange though - we made all the right decisions and pushed when we needed to, but just couldn't drop racks. They defended really well.

I watched the match between BCC and not sure what the other team was called, was an epic battle!
At one stage I thought BCC was definitely going to take the game, but unfortunately things went pear shaped the last 15-20 minutes with the other team winning team fight after team fight until the fat lady eventually sang.
I'm sure the guys will look back and contemplate what went wrong, for me it looked like the usual "we winning, lets take some more farm first and finish off later, maybe push now, no wait, I need this item first" scenario.
In the end Faceless Void got so huge it was impossible to kill him.
All in all it was a good battle for either team to take
