Howzit Chaps,

Im seriously curious, are there people playing dota that actually cheat? I must say ive seen some realy strange things in some of the games ive played, but been a relatively fast paced game ive never really noticed blatent cheating even though all the guys go made with their "HAX" comments.

I think my biggest wonder when playing is you get a dude with a hero we have all used numerous times, he has very ealry game items and he just beats the lights out of everyone who comes near him. End game he is on 18 - 1. I wish i could do that :( :)

I wouldnt put games like that down to cheating, i just think there are some guys who are just insane. Ive been playing for pretty long and i just cant seem to grasp how these guys do it!

Tell me how to OWN god damit! :D

Wat connection do u have? I was a pretty good dota player at lans but sucked online cos im on 56k. The slight difference in latency can make a big difference, timing spells and stuff. Also stick to the heroes that u good with and learn their pros n cons, and learn good item and skill builds for them. The hero guides on dotaportal.com are really good.

Naah some guys are plain imba, they've been playing for years.

From the title I was just going to come and say : Banned.

But yes, you do get hax, but no "cheats" that could make you kill quicker or better, its just map hax that reveal the entire map to you and show enemies hp, invis heros, the real one out of images etc. It helps a lot though... not that I use them. :p

I play on iBurst and I know a few good players who play on iBurst too, we get a bit longer delay than ADSL players, but you just get used to it. There a bit of delay compared to LAN games even on ADSL, you just get used to timing everything with delay, it doesn't make it much harder.

These days I always time everything wrong on LAN, it's just too fast. :D

lol true u do get used to it, but some heroes are near impossible to play with on 56k.

Thanks for the replies. I play on Iburst. I dont normally get lag even thought my latency can be a little ****ty at times. Im in a good signal area thankfully. But yeah some guys are just Imba! :D Think i need to practise some more. And yeah could be my conn. That extra latency could be my down fall!

The only cheats there is what i know of is map hacking its a program that shows u the map.So u can see all the other players as well.
Playing on iburst is ok as long as u don't try to host a game u will be fine.

GRIMSPOON your iburst may not have a bad ping, but you may have lost packets, basically the server doesnt register your hits because it never received them

Improve your signal, or its quality, with an antenna etc.

But loss doesn't make for worse delay, it will make you drop or have lag spikes.

And Pe, I've had a friend host some games on iBurst, but he had a good connection. I hosted some TD's fine with mine, but in general rather don't. You'll be banned quicker than you can say ganymede = noob :D

no packet loss doesnt give you a worse delay

basically lets say you play a game and shoot 15 bullets, 8 of those bullets may not register on the server due to not being sent, thus packet loss will affect your play in a big

iburst is wireless no way around it man, your only option is adsl, which quite honestly is not that much more

384 adsl kicks the crap outta iburst even though iburst is 1meg, how many ppl actually get true speed

adsl is true speed not what the line is capable of

Well you're talking about FPS games, do you play DOTA? It's more like WoW or GW, suited for higher latency...

For FPS you really want ADSL, even though I play CD 1.6 on international servers, only because I don't have originals. :D

I might change from iBurst to 384 ADSL myself, mostly because of the price drops and how much more bandwidth I can buy, especially those local only accounts.

But packet loss isn't nearly as bad as your example, you won't usually get many clicks not registering on a decent iBurst connection. Dota runs smooth almost all the time.

LOL! doob the noob

I know theres a hax? command that lets the host kick someone from the game.

Nice if there are noobs, not nice if youre getting pwnt

If you've played many Dota games, you'll always notice something: on average the hosts always seems to do better than the others. It's not because only good dota players host games. It's because that tiny bit of latency that vanishes when you host, makes a big difference.

I agree, you can get used to a little delay with practice. But some heroes like Slayer just plainly kicks arse better at LAN's than when you're playing online. ;)

Thurman hey? Well if you're unk I don't exist. LOL. I've played quite a few games with you. I go by the same nick. :p
