Dota question

you know what would be cool, if we all met war3 server and played against each other... should be fun, we just need someone with a 512 line who can host...

Yo people just have a few questions!

1) I have a 56k dial up connection and was wondering if its possible to play dota online with it decently.

2) Is is possible to play with a ripped copy of the game rather than the actual install?

3) Can i play with version 1.20e or do i have to update to 1.21?

4) What map is currently being played 6.44b or 6.34b?

5) Do i need to have an account or something to play?

I'm an experienced dota player whos played for more than 3 years now, but in recent times haven't had much of a chance to dota due to studies. I have played countless Lan games at campus and at friends places but this is the first time playing online.
LOL. . . the last map i played was 6.22 :eek:

ok, u can play on 56k, provided that ur line is stable, u might experience some delay, maybe like 1 sec. illegal copies of the game work 100%, trust me, i know! getting 1.21 would be a plus, coz then u won't lag out when someone creates with a higher version than u, 6.45 is the latest map, get it at www.getdota.com, it's about 2.5 mb, and finally u need to register an account, in the game select battle.net choose create an account, follow the prompts and PLAY!

well, if u got it from www.getdota.com then u got the right file, but ur size is way too small, redownload it! my size might be off... dled it so long ago... look out for me tonight on war3, be on at about 10... the nick is the same

Gateway Editor.exe has to be downloaded, that doesnt come with the game.

Once you download that you can follow 4nt1's instructions. but put it in the game directory, actually it doesnt have to for there, but its a nice place anyway :)

And its not Zone where you put war3.co.za, its called IP.

Yo why cant i connect to battle.net ? :(

It says something about "cannot find server" or something or "Check if your modem is connected to your pc" cant quite remember exactly. . .
This is the settings im using :
Name :War3
Host : war3.co.za
Zone : 2
 
I just patched to 1.21, do i need to redownload a new gateway editor and the w3l files or can i use the older ones ?
 
The older ones are fine, but you sure use a new crack for the game. There used to be a patch on hte war3 site.

Maybe it will work without it.
