Since u have never played it go and download the one with the ai and practice before going online with this one. Trust my they will rape u other wise.
 
Dota is an interesting concept, basically 5 heroes per side, the map is devided in 3 lanes, NPC creeps spawn on the opposite sides every few minutes and make their way down the lanes, battling it out, there are towers spread alongside the lanes as well which does extra damage and serves as a form of extra defense.

Now apart from this automation, the heroes *players* can move around as they please, they are usually devided up into the lanes to help "push" and defend them.

Gold is produced by killing creeps or opponent players, where it is spent on items in various shops on each sides starting positions and "special shops" spread throughout the map.

This might sounds fairly basic, but with the amount of heroes to choose and items to equip the game has a learning curve! So getting a AI map, which substitutes bots instead of players to play against might be a good idea if you want to get into the DOTA experience.

THe community usually contains a bunch of hooting 15 year olds moderated by the saddest 20 something power trippers on the planet, this is a fact, no jokes. Heres a real life example for you: Get MIRC or any other IRC client, join Server: za.shadowfire.net Room: War3 and say "hello". See what happens.

Currently you are able to play on a local server which hosts the game, its called the Twilight server.

All in all it is a very fun game, other games hosted on the server include a myriad of mods like Tower Defense, Zombie games etc. An actual AAA title is under development called "Demigod" which will be a cross platform release of the same concept behind DOTA.

The developers at Blizzard acknowledged DOTA as a huge game with a huge following, they woked closely with modders from around the world to make the Starcraft 2 editing engine as customizable as possible, so expect to see a variant of DOTA in Starcraft 2.

A warcraft 3 map
Over a 1000 ppl playing online everyday one of the most played games at lans.

Both you can download a map with AI bots great if your a beginner in the game, yes server address is war3.co.za go 2 www.war3.co.za\forum you can get all the information on how to connect and rules there.

you just need warcraft 3 and the exp and the game update V1.22

Download it the update you can download from www.blizzard.com and the map you can get from www.getdota.com Where you get war3 and the exp is your problem.

Some places sell it for like a R100

yeah this helped alot, i just heard this thing all over the place and thought maybe its a good game. but it seems like most people also say the people are young and not so friendly to play with.

i dont want to play with a bunch of 15 year olds though...that have a bigger ego than paris hilton..she's allowed one btw,,man she is sooooo hot.

the good news there is i'm going to work in her hotel in new zealand in a few weeks. she has to come there some time.

wow, easily distracted when i mention her huh..lol
 
Is there a Local Site, Where I can download Warcraft 3 update Patches??
If not, How much CAP would the international updates take??
 
Omg you never heard of, seen or played DOTA? Holy moses thats sad :D J/K....Update your WAR3, get the map www.getdota.com and wala! And if you enjoy it, be prepared to erase a few months / years from your life. I spent about 2 years addicted beyond words. I am better now.

Perfect day, at home by 4.20 in a game by 4.25 trundles off to bed at 11.00 need to get some sleep for work tomorrow.

HAHA yeah.. I have heard of dotA before, but never played it... still kinda a n00b with warcraft 3.. I played World of Warcraft before. Where do I get the Updates??
