DOTCO wants to stop Telkom

“Telkom will purely perform the role of ADSL Internet access [bandwidth] wholesaler as opposed to the perception created by the industry that it is regulating ADSL usage. Telkom will provide tools to control ADSL sessions,” the statement says.
At least no one is pretending its SAIX and not Telkom. The simple fact is they're charging too much per gb so they are regulating usage through pricing. I hope E or I casa or whatever they want to be called dont get sidetracked or bought off.

They don't need to get bought off.
It seems in the end they either have no power or stopped caring.
No regulator can, in their right mind, approve the new pricing structure.

Broadband in SA will never improve.

Don't rely on ICASA for anything, all they have are gums. No teeth, governmant saw to that.

As far as I know, SAIX's wholesale pricing is not in the basket of goods that ICASA needs to approve.

Viva la DOTCO, nice timing. Someone had to do it.

It's sad that the courst are the only route open to stopping this thing, that the groups meant to look out for us are so damn flacid.

This whole thing is just so ludicrous we should be out in the streets burning stuff!

Excellent work DOTCO ... u seem to be the only shinning light in this entire thing ... I am sure I echo the sentiments of most if not all forumites when I say THANKS :D

You have to give Telkom credit for hiding 1000% price hikes in statements like this:
“Telkom will purely perform the role of ADSL Internet access [bandwidth] wholesaler as opposed to the perception created by the industry that it is regulating ADSL usage. Telkom will provide tools to control ADSL sessions,” the statement says.

Joe Average will read that Telkom statement and ask themselves why DOTCO is being so unreasonable.

I guess billions of rands buys you a good PR team.

How can we defeat that message and make Joe Average realise what Nov 1 is really all about?

Hopefully getting cut off by the hard cap will jolt a few sensibilities.

hopefully this gets a bit of attention and gets into the news so that Joe Average will discover what Telkom is really doing to this country!
