You do realise that most doctors in private health care have a software for billing? That bills according to your medical aid level and package? If your medical aid will pay 300%, it will bill 300%. If your medical aid only pays 100%, it will bill 100%. The doctor doesn't decide.

Perhaps your frustration should be directed towards medical aids and the Board of Healthcare Funders - they alone are responsible for the rapidly escalating costs of private health care in this country, and not a shadowy conspiracy of doctors who meet under the full moon to plot your financial downfall. I would share your re-directed frustrations, as a practitioner.

The BHF should eliminate this 100-200-300-400-x% rate nonsense - and charge a fixed minimum pricing for consultations, procedures and medications. But they won't, because they're profit driven, and couldn't give a flying toss about anyone's health or well-being. This idea of "gap cover" speaks directly to this - a preposterous and ludicrous proposition that is borne directly out of poor regulation and accountability.

How I know that you are lying is because you said, "I spoke to them..."

But everyone and anyone who has dealt with the HPCSA in recent years (and before) knows that to speak to someone telephonically is nigh-on impossible.

Also, the complaints procedure is an online form requiring minimal information, that would have obviated the need for you to speak to someone at council.
