Douglasdale ADSL Telkom Problems

I'm so over having to deal with Telkom on this matter. If you can figure out a way that would help us expedite the upgrade of the exchange/DSLAM I'm in

How I solved my Douglasdale [non-existent] DSL problems: just ordered another TM 15+15 account. I can't download the world but I have 50GB a month of relatively high speed problem free internet, albeit a bit more expensive.

Hi All,

All the above information has been useful in determining which is the best route to go in terms of an ISP in Douglasdale.

I am currently in the Douglasdale area and i have been using iburst wireles for over 5 years now with no improvements to the speeds I get. They say it is due poor signal. I would like to move to ADSL but the word on the street is the area has a lot of downtime due to continuous exchange upgrades and fibre to copper links.

as far as I've read and my research goes, Douglasdale struggles with connectivity and reliability.

Is there anyone who can update me (and this thread) on the areas' performance on ADSL? Or perhaps any ISP that one can rely on?

I'm in Douglasdale near Leslie and Douglasdale road, 4Mbps ADSL, Afrihost 50gb unshaped. There is still major congestion for me. Speed tests during peak have never gone more than 1mb, although I'd say it's closer to 0.5 on average. I use a download manager to view YouTube videos (with online services like KeepVid).

If I use a download manager, I can max out the line speed (+-400k/s download), so it's definitely congestion.

Are they 011 704 xxxx ?

I went from a stable 20mbps (17mbps real world) to a highly unstable 13mbps (10 mbps real world) over night. Not sure my issue is congestion then but rather a fault.
