In no way, shape or form was the advert created for the purpose of insulting and alienating their target market. On the contrary, it is clearly made to show that dove is for everyone.

There is backlash, but I'd put this down in the 'manufactured' category... maybe 'manufactured' is the wrong word, more 'ignorant' or 'illogical'. The ad is clear on what its portraying, taking snippets of what you want it to portray to suite your agenda doesn't make it 'racist'(*you & your is just phrasing, not targeted at you)

It will be interesting to see if woman in South Africa will replace their skin whitening creams with Dove. Another thing is: does Dove soap have any bleaching chemicals in its makeup? If not, they should be charged with false advertising.

Well if you watch the video where the black woman takes off her clothes to become white and the white woman becomes Asian/brown, suddenly it doesn't really seem that racist anymore. Publishing half the stills from a video and framing it into a picture with no context gives it a completely new meaning.
