Hi All

Does anyone know why you have to pay R544 to downgrade my package from Premium to Extra?

I already have a debit order running.

Regards

Ryan

Because Multichoice is of the opinion that money in their pocket is better than money in your pocket.

Rather cancel and then reinstate on extra. You will pay an R50 connection fee

I'm sorry what ? :wtf:

I simply went into my local DSTV office and told them i want to downgrade for the next months billing and it was done.

Sounds like a scam to me.

I think you're confused Catman, there is no such downgrade fee. I've upgraded and downgraded many times with DSTV, and the only restriction is on how many times you can downgrade in a 30 day cycle. It's possible you had that money already owing on your account, and that you need to settle it before you are permitted to downgrade?

Where does it say that? But you may be refunded after paying.

I tried to do it online and this message said I have to pay R544

I think I better go to the local Dstv shop or call them rather

Thanks for the help

I know when I downgraded recently, I had to pay the new package first month upfront. No big deal, just means you don't pay the following month but watch their billing cycles as they set me up with a weird one and the payment was due before I got paid and even though I paid before the end of the month, they charged connection fee as well as a pro rata to have the date correctly shifted.

I just phoned the call center, took all of 3 minutes and no extra cost .

I gave them a call and they tell me to call on the 1st June.

They are unable to schedule a downgrade as I have Extraview.....

I down graded in March, and they were unable to do it until my payment date which was 27th of the month. Multichoice agent called me before it was scheduled to downgrade and offered me a free month on Premium. So I watched premium in April, and forgot to ask for the downgrade again. 27th of April the premium subscription was taken from my account, and I was stuck with Premium until today.

I phoned today and down graded. There is no time for them to offer me another free month LOL.

I downgraded today, and it gives the same message. They're just saying ensure you have funds when the next debit comes around. Don't worry about it. I've downgraded a number of times over the last few months and it's the same thing.

It is not a fee for downgrading, it is what the Extra package cost including your access fees, any pro rata fees and insurance if applicable.
If you have debit order it is what they are going to deduct at month end.

I cancelled DSTV back in the last century sometime - I think it was about 1999. I'm no Multichoice fan but I do remember that when it came to billing issues they seemed to be on the ball (despite what I read about other peoples' experiences).

They say I still have a R29 credit with them, but that I can only redeem it when I sign up again. Oh well - that's R29 I'm never going to see again.

Have gone through this myself recently. Pretty painless. However I NEVER do debit order with a Multichoice, just don't trust their billing department. Simply set up a recurring payment on your internet banking and then you can control the payments yourself for situations like downgrades but still not have to remember to pay every month.
