I am having an error downloading files, That when it stalls thats it it never resumes you can start downloading from scratch and it stalls at the exact same spot. Used getright IE and flashfxp.

The only way I have been able to get the data is to have a mate of mine download the file and then link it from his system for me to download!
Here is an extract from my log

I'm having the same problem - it's definitely something wrong on Iburst's site. Check the tread I started called something like "downloads just won't go"

It does actually continue, but sometimes only a day or two later. This is really annoying, especially when you're downloading a 50kb file from sourceforge....

Downloading the exact same file from a different mirror doesn't seem to help, which leads me to believe that they're running a transparent proxy somewhere that's not working the way it should

i have the same trouble, but on adsl. I've so far figured out that if i restart my proxy server ( squid ) it works again, until the bloody thing just drops again. If i use my linux box ( FC2 ) the problem never happens.

PS: Squid does not run on my FC2 box, it runs on another linux box that runs as my firewall and it does transparent proxying, so yes the FC2 box is also using the proxy server.

I do recall the post could not remember what it was called I have treid for 2 days now and no luck.... Thanks for the info on mirrors as I was trying to find a mirror to get the file. :( it is a game i want to try seeing i cant play everquest due to major packet loss.

Obelix, then that confirms my theory of the proxy - maybe there's something corrupt in your proxy cache?

I usually use Squid on a linux box too (IP-COP 1.4.2), but stopping the proxy completely and trying to download directly didn't make much of a difference. That's why I suspect that iBurst is using a transparent proxy somewhere.

karel - I also commented on koffiejunkie's classic post, 'downloads just won't go' - downloads will abort near the end, and resuming them always does nothing. I can't possibly see how this is a problem on WBS's end, but I am out of ideas, and the problem is distributed among many members...

Also, resuming the d/l might work +48 hours after the fact.

I can understand your thoughts about the problem not being at wbs end and I am not pointing fingers at them directly but what is concerning is that while i have the problem My mate downloads the same file from the same website and it is ok, If i still had my helcom connection i could switch to that and see if the last few bytes come down but I dont so it is hard to say.

Karel, what connection does your mate have?

I'll tell you why it definitely IS NOT a problem on our side:

Whe we first got iBurst, we still had ADSL at the office too. We have one firewall that handles both connection. The proxy server on our side is the same one for both connections. If I run into this download problem, I switch the firewall to ADSL, and it works.

The firewall has a third connection, dial-up modem - in case all else fails. If I run into the download problem on iBurst, and switch to modem, problem goes a way.

So:

1. The only variable on my side is what connection I'm on.
2. Many of us run into that problem - all running different setups.

It's a WBS problem. Believe me, I've explored all the possibilities on my side.

I felt like burning bandwith and just downloaded that file in 1 and a half hours

My mates conenction is adsl and we have this at the office too (adsl) well i finaly got the file by transferring the partially downloaded file and got the last few kb so the problem has not been solved but worked around.

Thank you all for your input and sugestions.
hope the teething problems on iBurst gets sorted out as when it works correctly it is great :D
