How is using a VPS bypassing shaping? AFAIK, shaping is the throttling of certain protocols such as P2P. Downloading from a VPS is nothing more than downloading over HTTP, so unless the T's and C's state you can't download 'large files' over HTTP, you can't be accused of flouting any T's or C's. It's not as if you're downloading through a special proxy tunnel or anything.

Tell that to Mweb. If you tried to do NNTP over 21, 80 or 443 they consider it bypassing shaping and will have words with you.
