hello all

so im with mweb and they forever increasing prices

now i want to move to someone cheaper or get better line speed for the same price

how long down time will i have between switching providers?

and how does the process work and whats the best way to avoid too long downtime

I arranged the switch (for my Mother) from MWEB to Afrihost at the beginning of this month. We had a day and a half of downtime while waiting for Frogfoot to transfer the line (not sure if this was longer/shorter than normal, it was the month when they were changing speeds on their packages).

I provided some feedback on the process here: https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/thr...afrihost-frogfoot-fibre.1267377/post-32478728

thats not bad

im on openserve though i wonder if that will be just as quick

but yeah i am going to need to call mweb today perhaps so i can have it cancelled end of march

HI There, @I.am.Sam

With Openserve you can always activate another ISP on a different LAN port, so that the Switch Over would be more seamless.

Thus you can apply for a service, provide your cancellation date of current service, and we can get you activated on another port close to/ on the cancellation date.

If you are interested, you can feel free to check out our packages on Coolideas.co.za.
Simply enter your address and follow the application steps

Cool Regards :)

aaah great hear that

thank you for this

let me go and hunt if your prices are good

any discounts for mybb guys ?

Thanks. They do like to make it difficult.
Ironically no, if we display pricing for all providers, it often creates more confusion as most people don't know which fibre provider is in their area or at their location specifically.

Entering an address then also looks up all your options, you might have 2 FNOs available.

I have been with Telkom from day 1.

Started at 20/2 and they kept upgrading my line till 100/100

I still pay the same amount as when I got the 20/2.

I had almost no downtime in about 4 years.
