Reading from a statement, she lost her place and on one occasion had to be assisted by Housing Minister Lindiwe Sisulu. Questions had to be repeated, while others were totally misunderstood.

As the chairperson of the cluster, for example, an erratic Tshabalala-Msimang directed a question about the Bok van Blerk song De La Rey to her director-general, instead of Arts and Culture Minister Pallo Jordan.

Laughter quickly smothered embarrassment.

When asked a question about extreme drug resistant TB that her officials had anticipated, she rambled on at length from a prepared reply that did not directly answer the question asked.

And then there was the matter of whether she would follow in the footsteps of her deputy and some health MECs and take a public HIV test.

Tshabalala-Msimang, who completed her medical studies in the Soviet Union, decided to throw in a Russian phrase, as unintelligible to most in the audience as some of her replies.

Later, after the ordeal was over, she was spotted giving a brief jig as if to say: I'm fit and healthy. Then she left the venue.

Must have been very dark. :D Is she married anyway?

VERY VERY dark, and the other person must have been seriously drunk or drugged up :D

No idea.... I pity her husband if she is...

You're very shallow chap (:D )
Maybe she's a demon in bed when she gets home.

She's definitely cracking up. Answering the wrong question, babeling in foreign languages (Russkii) ...

I'm guessing TB with heavy meds.

Some of you thugs are deplorable.

It is simply bad taste to wish something as bad as AIDS on someone, even if that person is Manto. That is not Ubuntu.

Take a leaf from the ANC and forgive all those who have wronged in the past. People like Botha have directly caused the death of thousands, yet the people through the ANC forgave them, they were even given state funerals.

I use the word past because the ANC led government introduced the first anti-retroviral plan in 2003 after some period of hesitancy. The rollout of antiretroviral drugs began in Gauteng in March 2004. By 2005, At least one service point for AIDS related care and treatment had been established in all of the 53 districts in the country, meeting the Government’s 2003 target.

Even though there is backlog, and some people lost their lives due to the initial hesitancy, the government has come to the party.

Some people? That is quite a euphemism there. How many have died so far? How man continue to die every day?

By the way, what is your job?

Rooinek: Manto and T-Bone are responsible for millions of people killed by AIDS. The ANC is such a swell bunch.

I want to illustrate the fact that the government has a plan to deal with AIDS. That plan is called the Operational Plan for Comprehensive Care and Treatment for People Living With HIV and AIDS.

This plan has resulted in some inroads in dealing with the scourge.

However, there has not been a smooth roll-out. Roll-out is slow in some areas and excellent in others. Areas like khayilitsha have a good roll-out whereas others like the limpopo province have a very bad roll-out.

This has resulted in some people who need ARV's not receiving them.

What is needed is assitance to the Ministry to do the roll-out. I believe that if they seek the assistance of their neighbour Botswana in how to manage such a roll-out, things will improve, as Botswana has one of the most comprehensive and effective plans to combat the epidemic.

600 000 people a year is a bit more than "some people".
