'Dr Death's' defence 'embarrasses' State

Anyone know who is paying for Basson's legal counsel?
If he is paying, the oke must have a serious stash of tin put away to be able to fsk the state up on a regular basis for so long... even if he is a cardiologist

Actually the state pays for his defence because it revolves around his actions while employed by the state, if I recall correctly.

IIRC you are both semi-right. Will ask him when I speak to him again

He bears the opportunity costs though. This is his arguement - it costs him earnings to be in court all the time.

Interesting, are those said costs not included when the case is thrown out of court with the legal fees or does a person lodge a separate sort of damages case for lost income?

This is not a court hearing, but an HPCSA disciplinary hearing. So I don't think Legal aid would apply here. It is most probably at his expense.

Valid point there but if this is not a court, why bother even going to entertain this nonsense?

Seems the state just can't let it go that they lost their earlier actions. I don't see why they are wasting time and money on this cr@p

HPCSA could revoke his license to practice.

EDIT: Syndre beat me to it.

He needs to register with them to practice medicine in South Africa.

Rest assured. This regime running this country pulls every trick to get this doctor.

He won the main cases. Can't remember how many. Then our courages comrades decided the judge, Harzenberg was biased, so they tried to try him on the cases the judge threw out. Cilliers appeared on state cost and all came to none.

Now they try to nail his profession with trumped up charges. Even our knowledgeable comrades changed the act so that a doctor may do this kind of work.

Then their main witness agree they have no point. Now they want to call another witness to contradict their main witness. The stupidity of our heroic comrades never fail to astound me.

You know what is the nicest? He kicks them not on the backside, on the other side a bulls eye every time.

Shame, Shame, Shame. Go anc fools! Go! Shame, Shame, Shame.
:sick::sick::sick:

Going after Basson is meaningless if you don't prosecute the people that GAVE him his orders. He was just a pawn used by the apartheid regime.

How incompetent do you have to be if you cannot convince a chairperson on a balance of probabilities (since this is a civil matter) that a biological weapons expert broke the Hipocratic oath in which he swore to use his skills for the good of mankind? LMAO!

It would be in Basson's interest to end the hearings early. Which probably explains why they have now postponed the proceedings until September NEXT YEAR. so he won't be able to practise until end of next year.

That is unheard of in such circumstances! Someone is playing games.

Indeed, and for some reason I don't think it is Basson. How many trails did he survive, and yet they try to "get him" again and again.

I don't think he has been prevented from practicing pending the outcome. That isn't the issue. Every hour in court/in front of the committee/whatever is an hour not earning any income.

And, as I understand it, 'costs' are the direct fees you pay for your legal team, not the lost of revenue.
