I have no skin in the game or interest in the drama, my understanding was just that he was legally blocked from talking about it.

I’ve never even seen his videos.

But after independently reviewing internal Twitch communications and interviewing a source with knowledge of the situation, Rolling Stone has learned that Beahm was kicked off the platform in 2020 for allegedly sexting a minor through a since-discontinued messaging feature called Whispers, even after learning she was underage. He also allegedly inquired about her plans to attend TwitchCon, the company’s semi-annual gaming convention.

A former Twitch trust and safety employee, who worked for the platform at the time Beahm was banned and has direct knowledge of the matter, confirmed to Rolling Stone that Beahm continued to send sexually graphic messages to a minor he knew to be underage. This former employee, who requested anonymity to avoid jeopardizing their career, also said that crucial elements of Beahm’s latest defensive tweet are inaccurate.

“I recall that Dr Disrespect was made aware by the individual that they were underage during the conversation, after which he indicated that this was no problem and continued on,” the former employee says. “There was no confusion. Messages sent after this was acknowledged were no less graphic and in sexually explicit nature than before, and I think more than the categorization of ‘leaning too much in the direction of being inappropriate’ might indicate.”

The ex-Twitch employee has also provided Rolling Stone a more detailed account of internal conversations at Twitch following the report of Beahm’s messages and his subsequent ban. They say the details of Beahm’s case are coming out because of Conners’ explosive tweet last week. “Cody definitely got the ball rolling. Me and many of my former colleagues are only comfortable speaking up now because of it. Our priority is always to the safety of the [alleged] victim and to keep their identity secret,” they said.

YouTube’s former global head of gaming partnerships at Google, Ryan Wyatt, confirmed to Rolling Stone that Beahm was not offered a contract due to chatter about the circumstances of his Twitch ban. He says that a Twitch employee and journalists investigating the incident told YouTube employees that it involved inappropriate messages to a minor.

“The unfortunate part of all of it was there were so many rumors circulating in the industry, one that a minor was involved,” he says. “But no one produced first-hand knowledge or evidence, and because of those rumors, there was no reason to entertain doing any deal with [Beahm], and no evidence produced means you can’t act on a [terms of service] violation. The whole situation got even more confusing when Twitch settled and effectively said, ‘no wrongdoing’ which made everyone in the industry dismiss the rumors, but even still, there was never a reason to do a deal with him after that ban.”

All the above is being snipped and shared on social media. I expect Twitch to reply shortly; they are pretty much being exposed now. It is on the law to protect the minor's identity, not on these employees, neither is it their priority. Also, why put "[alleged]" in a direct quote making the claim? The editor did not think that through. "Their" has also been said, implying that there is more than one victim.

The problem Twitch have now is that their policies which need to be aligned with law, protecting minors, have to be administered. Such claims could, and possibly will now, open an investigation into Twitch.

What has been DM'ed has been DM'ed. Account deletion will not save anyone who has acted criminally.

Twitch (which is a pretty far left-leaning / #believe-all-trans+women type of company), cut his partnership, but still paid him out his contract with no complaints / cases made against him. No police involvement, no further investigations and they even said "no wrong-doing".

I suspect that the minor initiated the conversation with very explicit texts and that Dr D replied to (or as he said "entertained") with a few messages in kind. (It looks like he didn't know at first that it was a minor, but then this person indicated it? It's not clear - and a few more messages were exchanged).
So I doubt that the actual texts from the minor will be released as it will "victim shame" her for her slutty texts.

She was stupid to send him sexual messages and he should not have responded knowing that everything on the internet is forever.

All I want to see is this entire thing turned upside down. The authorities need to get Twitch to cooperate. Have an algorithm run on DMs to detect these violations. Then move on to others like Kick, X, YouTube, Instagram, etc. Yes, even Steam. Pandora's box is now opened.

I don’t think most people have an idea of how bad things were behind the scenes at Twitch. I literally worked in the department that had access to the most data and information. I saw private whispers etc. it was literally my job to investigate daily.

I saw things every single day that I wish I never had to see. I always advocated for being a good human. Always expressed with heavy emotion on my streams how Twitch let pedophiles run free, every day.

This does not end with Beahm. All allegations need to be treated equally. In the case where it is criminal, well, it is a crime in most US States, and well, Twitch is now exposed. The Feds are coming.
 
What a fukin shame man. I was a massive fan of Dr Disrespect - caught all his streams. I was holding onto that one shred of hope that he didnt know her age at first, and everything else was for him and his wife to deal with privately - but if that Rolling Stones article is true... well then, ****

I mean, If he didn't know she was a minor it would've been the first thing he said in his statement, but he didn't. Because in all likelihood he knew and was fine with it, he's just a creepy ass dude.

For now it is best to wait and see how Twitch responds. From what has been let out in the public, they are exposed though it is uncertain to say whether their agreement with Beahm is in breach. What is known is that there were no criminal charges brought against Beahm. Though we now have previous Twitch employees putting it on the record that the messages were sexually explicit.

Beahms own response:

These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more.

Does not help him. What the public doesn't know is what is deemed inappropriate. I doubt the messages will be made public, even with redaction. Twitch is on the line here too.

I have had a read up on how these laws work in the US. It is complicated, and there are new and updated mechanisms in the works.

From a short reading, voluntary participants must make their reports available to the authorities. There are control mechanisms. There are record keeping requirements, how this will be applicable to Twitch, and similar, only a lawyer versed in the topic would be able to elaborate. The question is then, did Twitch report Beahm? There is a timeline, approximately 3 years. Did Beahm argue that his privacy, and speech, needs to be protected under the Constitution? Did "inappropriate" meet predatory status? Don't know.

My view is simple. Beahm made a public admittance, and the public has a right to scrutinize his statement and deliver their opinion. As I said previously, the only thing on Beahm's side is that he wasn't criminally charged. Twitch needs to be transparent. Everything else on him are allegations, but those allegations will trigger an investigation. The thing with investigations is that it can turn into litigation, and that can take years.

It is time to catch the pedophiles preying on minors in what they think is private messaging. Nobody has a right to give them protection. The same with any predator in my opinion. I am curious what Breslau's stake is in all this; he has also shown 'inappropriate' behavior.
