Dragon Age: Inquisition

I've really enjoyed the game on pc however the mouse and keyboard controls are terrible haha.

I am happily playing it on my Xbox controller without any issues :P

Otherwise the game is amazing

Are you playing the game on an XBox with an XBox Controller

or

are you playing the game on a PC with an XBox Controller?

A bit off topic but this was a good read: http://tinyurl.com/olzcyec

I don't go into the Hinterlands unless it's story related. Will do the side missions there whenever I feel in the mood for it...

I finally left there last night after realising some things I just cannot do with the allocated healing I have

Cruising a bog filled with undead now...

I'm the OCD type mentioned in the link LOL

It sort of tricks you being the first zone. We're used to older Bioware etc RPG's where you go into a zone and clear it, whereas now it works better to cycle between. On my second night I got to that pass in the South which is guarded by archers and two 2h weapon guys. They kept ripping me to shreds (until I sniped them at range with Varric). Took forever though.

It's way better to just go back to the tough areas/groups when you're a bit higher level.

Started playing properly this morning. Really enjoying it, but there's a couple of stupid stuff. Like the map and mini-map are quite useless. They could really have designed them both better.

Holy shyte. Someone that agrees with me about the map and mini-map being stupid and useless. I mean how hard is it to show terrain on the mini-map?

Played all the way to lvl 17 without taking up a specialty.

Took up Knight-Enchanter and then respecced to put all my points into it.

It's freaking insane! OP melee mage ftw!

I absolutely agree, been one of my few gripes with the game.

To a more general point I'm enjoying the game, it's pretty decent, limited budget had to choose between it and Far Cry 4... just given the scope of DA:I I think I made the right decision.

Only other thing I'll say is that I feel like the side quests are so inconsequential.

Unlike other Bioware products like Mass Effect, it's nice to just instantly complete a quest when you pick up an item if you're looking for speed leveling, but there seems to be very few quests where you return to someone and explain what happened and see their reaction, last one that even stood out in my mind was the Elven Chick in Hinterlands when you return her husbands ring... those are too far and inbetween.

The dragons in this game are insanely difficult to kill...
These dragons will eat Skyrim dragons for breakfast.

The little ground-bound dragons are pretty easy to kill.

Aim for the legs! But yeah, I only killed the Hinterlands one after being a number of levels higher than it.

I heard of a guy that solo'd every dragon in the game with a Ranger on the hardest difficulty. Not sure if it is true though. Haven't quite looked for the vids if they exist.

It should be possible.
In the Hinterlands I solo'd (because I didn't know that I should come back at a higher level) a lot of lvl 8 packs with my lvl 2-3 Varric.

Overall I'm not super impressed by the game. It's pretty, but the story and majority of quests feel pretty weak.

The problem I feel is there's just too much to do. Way too many side quests that you often lose track of the story, and as a result you lose any attachment you form with the characters. This is the worst thing that a dev can do, but it serves all those moaners right, those who were crying for Elder Scrolls levels of game length.

The first DA and all the Mass Effects got this balance right, and I just hope the next ME doesn't head down this route. I liked ME and DA, and got bored of Elder Scrolls, for a reason...

I am trying to complete each area on its own and I am not really following the story, I am just looking for decent weapons. The only thing that still bothers me about this game is that you have to run around an object, even if it is just a stone in your path, to pass it.

I found 2 dragons but they are level 18 and level 20. There is no way that I am going to take them on with my level 17 Mage.

Battlemage can easily over power them :p
Not sure if it's been nerfed yet but the Battlemage was a ridiculously over powered specialization .

Getting this for xmas so still a few days wait. Hope it's as good as everyone says :)

Good points. Just removing the herb farming feels as if it would cut the game time by half. Combine that with the weak crafting, you don't really feel that connect of I need x of y items so I can craft z. It's more a case of just picking up random items until I notice I can craft something. Then all the valuables which you may or may not need that just fills up your inventory for no reason, apart from trying to force you to go back to town the whole time.

The team characters also feel weak. Apart from Iron Bull and a bit of humour from Sera now and then I really couldn't care less if everyone else died on me. Even Varric has nothing to go for him, unlike in the previous game :/

120 hours in and still enjoying. Can craft some great items with level 3 schematics and level 4 crafting material.
