Hi,
(Happy Holidays Everyone)
Scenario:
20Mb account with WebAfrica
WebAfrica provides my copper line account
ADSL profile
Draytek Routers (2800VG, 2830VG, Vigor 130 Modem)
I have used Draytek Vigor routers at my home office for the last 7 years, changing only the model as needed when ADSL2 was introduced.
Recently my line connection speed dropped from around 9Mb upload and .9Mb download to 8Mb download and .3Mb upload.
The download change I can live with but the upload killed me because I rely on my connection to connect to a VPN and for VOIP so the increased latency caused big issues.
I raised tickets with my ISP who advised that Telkom were doing maintenance in my local exchange and it would be rectified in a few days. 2 weeks passed and there was no change but then suddenly my connection / sync speed dropped to 3.5Mb and upload was .2Mb. Many days and many profile rebuilds, port rebuilds etc later, a Telkom engineer arrives at my address to test the line. He plugs his Dlink router in and immediately syncs at 11MB with an upload of .95Mb.
Here is my question, I have 3 different model and age Draytek routers in my office, all with different firmware too.
I have tested all of them using numerous ISP's, as well as the Telkom guest connection and they all sync at exactly the same speed (3.5Mb). As soon as I connect the Telkom engineer Dlink, I get 11Mb, and the same happens with my ISP to so the issue appears to be with Draytek...
Has anyone come across anything like this before please? I am struggling to believe that 3 different routers, with different firmware and functions all have the same issue.
I am a fan of Draytek for a number of reasons and have access points in my property too so changing hardware is not a trivial purchase.
Any suggestions or thoughts are most welcome.
Thank you
Craig
