Who enters a competition just to sell the prize?

People enter a competition because they would like to own said prize but cannot afford it, selling it brand new is just bullsh*t.

Insulting? To who? You, because you didn't get free stuff?

Nah, dude. There's nothing wrong with selling a competition prize, ethically or otherwise. Spar, Meat World and many others regularly run competitions with Ford Figos and other little ****boxes as prizes. I wouldn't be caught dead in one, but winning one is an instant ticket to a quick R100k. It's luck of the draw and your number wasn't picked. Don't whine about it.
