Mail sent to Multichoice, as i have the HTC Desire and the HTC Flyer, but not happy with no Android App, and no statement. Ive just lost it

absolutely ridiculous, that its nearly September and still no Android App. Remember this was announced in 2010, for release in April 2011. There are many people, who bought Android devices, in order to take advantage of the Drifta. Not everybody can afford an iPhone, or could back then. You could get cheaper Android phones, which made the Drifta a more appealing to consumers.

Also, its worth noting, that Nokia had something like 60% market share, so why was Nokia not used to test the software. Its also worth mentioning AGAIN, that iPad could make use of the Drifta, yet it had hardly been released in SA, and in fact iPhone were few and far between consumers. You either had to be a boss, or had to earn loads of money to afford one.

The fact it was released for iPhone, says that the developers are Apple Fan Boys. It shouldn’t be that difficult to release an Android app, by just copying the iPhone app and replacing the file as an .apk file.

More importantly, the lack of a statement says that there is probably no announcement on when the app will be made available. If the devs were so confident of a release soon, then why not man up and say it will be ready on specific date? I have sent DSTV mobile an email on 2 or 3 occasions, and each time I got the same response about the app being available soon. Automated reply perhaps! You cannot say, the app will be available in April, then nothing. Then say its nearly completed, but cannot commit to a set date. It really smacks of unprofessionalism, when a company with such high volume of consumers, are treated in such a bad way.

Simple statement DSTV, when will the Android app be available? What is the current situation regarding the progress of the app? Simple straight answers, but please don’t come with this bull of the app will be available soon…

ba ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Since you probably dont know, something like Drifta would probably need to be written again nearly from scratch, depending on how they wrote Drifta for iOS.

They should be more forthcoming with times though. Any project manager worth their salt should know the approximate completion date of a project, and they should communicate that out to consumers.

I personally have the Ipad2, Motorola Xoom 10" and a Nokia 5800Xpress. So it's IOS, Android and Symbian.

I would have liked to watch DSTV on my Nokia phone while in the Office or maybe Motorola Xoom when i'm about... (I carry the Xoom with me almost everywhere, has Nifty Email client and easy to work. Nice long battery life too)

C'mon Multi-Choice-DSTV. Bring the Android version of DSTV Decoder.

I am still waiting for the functionality promised to me when I bought my SD PVR...

After that debacle, the only reason I bought the drifta was because it went half price on dealify.

Corporates in glass palaces don't usually reply to queries unless they are forced, very similar to politicians. The possible damage probability is too great and their employees are all too scared for internal flak and limiting their careers.

I am not holding my breath for an android app.
Multichoice are useless.

Interesting to see the instruction booklet contains details for installing the android app.

'When asked whether they could confirm this, MultiChoice said it “is always looking for opportunities to add more value to its services. When we are ready to make any announcements, we will do so.”'

This means you must wait till they feel like giving you any info, and behave yourself meanwhile. :(

Maybe Julius M should nationalize Multi Choice - as they fall in the same category as State owned non service delivering departments.
