Have done a search on MyBB and last updates on this subject were around mid/Aug.2010.

Would like to confirm the following :

1.) Do they still take the photo's on the premises ?
(i.e. I don't need to have them taken before going to the Lic. Dept.?) ;

2.) Someone gave me a blank (green) form DL1 with code (18)(2008/04) around Oct last year - I presume this is up-to-date enough? Anyone know if it matters that much?
Wouldn't think they change their format much, & don't want to fill this out, then arrive there having to do another one.

3.) I already have a Certificate from an Optician (a specialist, in fact), done around mid-Dec'10. It states Cert. ''valid for 3 months from date of issue'' -
presume I won't have any problem with them wanting to test my eyes again, @ this stage?
(5 yrs ago, I let them test @ dept., but time before that used a cert., so I'm not up-to-date with what's accepted/what's not).

1) You will have to take 2 ID photos with you for the form.
They take digital photos of you at Licence Department but they also want 2 ID photo.
2) Don't know about form.
3) They will probably still want you to do the eye test as the paper with the digital photo and eye test are on same form.

All the best to you.
I have been trying to get my licence renewed for 4 months and they just keep losing my paper and I keep having to supply them with the same things over and over again.
PS. Take your ID book and proof of residence along with you also as they will also require it.
Had to make copies of both and certified at police station.

Wow okay, I went in with my ID, 2 photos and the form. Took about an hour and a bit and it was done. Seemed to improve over the process 6 years ago.

If you want my advice;

Goto the nearest traffic department and get 1/2 copies of the documents that you find there - then look around for the people who take photos.

If not (2nd part) goto a place near you and have photos taken.

If you pick it up, do so on a Friday at ~14:00. Nobody wants to spend their Friday there so queues are usually thin at that time.

Thanks for all the info. - will consolidate it all & go ... maybe even this Fri. afternoon :p
