OK so my driver's license is expiring. I live in Pretoria. Where do you suggest I go and what time?

I heard the Centurion office got a bit of a shake-up after the mayor visited and some people said they are decent.
I heard the Waltloo office is terrible - stay away.
I heard the Rayton office is good but quite a drive out.

Stay away from Waltloo most definitely. Tried them once, never again.

Your choices are either Centurion (may tend to be busy) or Rayton (quiet in the mornings if you get there early enough).

Thanks. So better to go early rather than later? What time - 7:00? Earlier?

I went to Centurion last year sometime. Took me 4 hours (just waiting in the queues).

You will battle to get finance or insurance, or a test drive.

ok.. I was just wondering coz whenever i get stopped at roadblocks, the cops never ever comment on my expired driver's license (been expired for over a year now)

I got to Centurion at 07H00 last Wednesday and was 18th in the Queue. Was out by 09h00.

Would have been quicker if the tester didn't have a cell phone.

Make sure that you have a copy of ID, ID, black pen and R228 in cash.

Was that including the temporary license?

I went at about 2pm to Centurion. They close at 3, so may be a bit reluctant to serve you, but will want to get you out of there ASAP, as they want to get home. So that worked for me, took about an hour

Why don't you renew it?

As for OP, last time I had to (2011), I went to Centurion at about 12:30. In and out in about 20 minutes. Can't guarantee you'll have the same good fortune, of course.

Well.. I'm in the process of selling my car.. so I just wanted to make sure if I needed to go do the renewal before I sell, or could I do it after I get my new car. Will probably just try to go to Rayton sometime this week.
