Driving Alone With Only Having a Learners Licence

I thought I was a good driver until I went to a driving school. To the OP, I've also driven from MP to the EC in peak season without any incidents (hard to believe but I went thru 4 road blocks).

But this didn't in any way imply I was a good driver (probably the most irresponsible act I've ever committed).
I hope you did the right thing.

When i was in cape town, the elsies river station used to have people queuing from 2am in order to get a booking for the very next week, wonder if they still do it?

It was the same when I went for mine. I'll get there at 4am in the middle of winter, only to find a queue longer than Mac Maharaj's string of illicit deals. It went on for some time til I found out most were going for CODE 10/EC1 drivers'.

I stayed and two weeks later, was driving legally.

It's kind of like gambling driving with a learners with no licensed driver next to you, if you have any kind of accident you are immediately liable, of course if you get caught its a big fine and I am not sure what else they do..

Just take the test again and pass, then you never have to worry about it again...

What the above person said is true the system is flawed especially in gauteng ...these people keep on failing people...There is a time my fiancee wanted his licence also they kept failing him till they gave a hint that he must give them some money in order to pass ...he left it and finally wen we went to visit home in mp he got his licence without any sort of bribe...so some people can be good drivers but because of the greedy people we come across you won't obtain it without bribe , but still just to be on a safe side people shouldn't drive alone without their drivers license just be patient endure until u obtain your licence after all it is the law we should just follow it.

Hi Guys, I know this thread is old, but it is related, so I want to know if somebody have some insight on this. Last night at a party a parent said that it is in the learners "book" that learners are aloud to drive within a 5km radius from their house alone. So a learner is aloud to drive to school and back alone if they live within 5km from home. I can't find any proof of this anywhere, except this stupid answers.com where somebody just answered yes, but does not substantiate the answer. Anybody can answer anything on there, and as you all know, if it is on the internet it must be true.

If somebody can help me out and give me some proof of this, I will appreciate it very much.

Yeah no it's not allowed.

It's not allowed and if you can't pass their simple driving test you simply cannot drive.

To the extent a lot of people are told to get their C or C1 license cause it's easier. But it costs more and the lessons are more and your insurance is more.
But it's easier.

It's one reverse alley docking park difference so far as I recall?

Some do, than moan when they're getting high insurance premiums. But yeah even knew people who had bought a car and had no insurance.
