Driving Alone With Only Having a Learners Licence

what makes you think that the instructor is qualified? the k53 is complete rubbish. and on the other hand the k53 is so stupid and easy that you stupid not to be able to pass sorry but that's the truth
 
K53 is such an easy exam.. saying that you can drive cause u drove from cape town to gaansbaai is just a sign that you think you can drive, but you cant.. an instructor is not allowed to fail you just cause he wants to.. if he has a good enough reason for you to fail, than thats just tough luck! Even our maid got it right to get her drivers license so seriously.. go for some driving lessons.. i mean.. when i was 12 I was driving around Plett but still I went for some driving lessons cause its the right thing to do.. in europe you need something like 30 driving lesson hours before they even let you try the test..

What man, the only thing people don't do that is in the K53 is the handbrake thing. If you don't observe while driving you are going to cause an accident. You probably don't think about doing it consciously, but I bet you do it all. There are people that don't do it and chance lanes without observing etc, but they do cause accidents and learn quickly enough then to observe.

Everyone knows this. Unfortunately, it leaves you with two choices. Either you make it obvious to the dude that you are checking your mirrors, by having the windows open and saying aloud what you are checking. Also when he is in the car with you, and make it OBVIOUS. Everyone knows its a crock, but we have to do it anyway. Its that whole theory of procedures vs people - they assume that an individual is too stupid to use their own judgement, so they provide a foolproof procedure that any idiot could follow. Judging by joburg drives, many of them still need those procedures.

Your second choice is bribery. I'd go with the first choice, but hey, different strokes.

Service delivery has improved, but the testing point of drivers licences is a sure weak point.

do people realise some guy woke up an old thread and this guy the OP probably ended up in jail cos he drove for 2hours to gansbaai and thought he is a formula one driver and then met an accident and cause of him they made the adverts ..papa wag vir jou

Lol, didn't realise till you said this...I feel like I've been griefed >.<

But to at least add to the original topic for future people who dig up this thread looking for answers. I would say about 99% of the people about to try get their license think they are the best driver in the world, I know because I also thought I was awesome :p The truth is you learn so much more in your first month of driving than you do in the whole year or 2 you spent driving before that. So to conclude, don't be an idiot like the OP. Stop being lazy and just get your license the LEGAL way, for all our sakes!

i never drove a manual car before getting my license ...my dad always had an auto ....and i went to alot of lessons and yes you hardly use k53 but blind spots are a must ...if you tell me you drive without doing that then you fall in the category of douche bag drivers
 
If you can drive well you can pass the driving test no problems. I passed it first time.

Basing your analysis on being a good driving on 1 cross country road trip? FFS man.

Don't put other people in danger.
 
Always sad looking at Capetonians driving in Gauteng's traffic with taxi drivers whooshing past yellow lane & doing all crazy stuff, causing havoc & accidents... then there and then do they realise how much they still need to learn about driving & safety in general.
 
There are 2 kinds of drivers.

Ones that have been in an accident.
Ones that have not yet been in an accident.

So ask yourself this question? How lucky do you feel?

I was talking more about legal in the sense of people actually going out and doing their driving tests instead of either just driving with a learners license or buying their licence :)

Don't know about Cape Town but must agree with OP, I live in bloemfontein and when I got my license a couple of years ago I had to go for it like 10 times, I admit some of them may have been my fault but certainly not all them, one time they failed me just after we had picked up our car at the roadworthy centre at the traffic department, the officer who was supposed to take me looked at the exhaust and said their was a hole in it therfore I failed after taking it back to the testing center they couldn't find the hole anywhere, I tried to complain about it but they just told me to make another appointment.

I have a couple of freinds here who have tried for their licenses over ten times at the BFN traffic department and failed each time, then they usually try one of the outlying towns testing centers and pass first time, the system is very very flawed.
 
You may think the K53 is rubbish but that is what you have to do to get your license legally. So stop complaining, pay for lessons and get your license legally and then you can drive how you want. As for the looking about, over emphasize it so that the instructor does notice. Do it so much until he gets sick of you doing it.

Remember you have to drive the way they want.

I went for lessons before my test and the guy did they me I drive very well BUT its not the K53 so I'm going to fail.
