hi,

what are the requirement when driving to Swaziland?

regards,
Alan

What kind of a question is this?

A car/bike/bus/taxi, A valid license if you are driving, a passport if you want to actually cross the border...

How is this not painfully obvious?!
well ive been seen ppl on the internet say i need the car licence (aka the log book)?

anyone driven to swaziland recently? what docs did they carry with them?

You need car registration papers, letter of confirmation from your insurance that you are permitted to take the car out of RSA, also from your financial institution if still financed, your passport and drivers license.

Not that painfully obvious it seems.

I drive there quite often. Never needed car papers or letter of permission from my insurance. (just tell you insurance to be safe)

You will have to pay a 'road tax' when you cross over. Think its R50.

Crossing is really easy. One VERY important thing. If they say 'are you going over for work?' make sure you have a work permit before saying yes. We went over for a workshop and got arrested when leaving the country for 'working illegally'. Had to pay a R3000 fine.

think ill just get an Affidavit just to be on the safe side, wonder where my mum put the car license.

if my mum is register name on the car license, i should get an Affidavit just to be safe?

Few important notes.

1. DO NOT speed in swaziland. Tickets are payable on the spot and if you don;t they will haul you away.
2. On the SA side, once you turn off the main highway and start going through the more picturesque country side, be very aware of the speed limitation. There is an 80 zone near some logging sites that the cops love to sit at.
