DROGBA THREE GAME BAN
Posted on: Tue 18 Nov 2008

The FA has issued the following statement regarding the disciplinary charge against Didier Drogba.

The statement reads:

At a Regulatory Commission today, Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was given a three match suspension.

Drogba admitted a charge of violent conduct. The charge related to Drogba throwing a missile into the away section of the crowd after scoring during the Carling Cup match against Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 12 November.

Drogba will serve the suspension with immediate effect.

The ban means the player will miss the home league fixtures versus Newcastle and Arsenal and the away league game at Bolton.

His arrogance is astounding. He apologized, after this incident, because he was forced to by the Chelsea officials, read his autobiography and you'll see that he actually was not sorry for his actions in the champions league final against Manchester United.

I know what he did is wrong... but a 3 match suspension is soo wrong i think!!! I mean he didnt walk onto the field with a coin in his pocket, so that he could milk a rasict supporter!!! I mean if frank would have scored the goal, do u think they would have thrown coins? Nah, maybe for rooney but thats coz hes white trash from the slums of everton!!! He aplogised straight after the game!! And i feel the whole section of the Burnley crowd should all be warned about being given a life ban from games, until someone comes forward and spills the beans on who threw the coin!!! Its unacceptable for fans to throw coins at players!!!
Did anyone see that linesman getting milked a few months back - i think he even started bleeding... Its very dangerous for people to throw the coins!!!

The fan should be banned for life and the Burnley team needs to be punished as well.

A three match ban for Drogba is lenient if you consider you get that for a straight red, which could be for a professional foul as last man.

I disagree that the club should be held responsible!!! How can they stop what a fan is doing? They have come out and been very good, continually trying to help the police etc. The fan that got hit must of seen who throw the coin in the first place, and he hasnt come out and said anything, so i think they got wat they deserved!!!!

Don't touch the Burnely fans. One idiot is not indicative of the entire bunch. while I reckon Drogba is a collosal twat - he is not the one azll the blame should be on, but he is a proffessional (I use that word loosely in this sense) and he should have coped with it. Scored again for example. Like Eto'o does when they make monkey noises at him. Heck, if thats how Drogba reacted, I'd buy myself a ticket and go make monkey noises to him at every game lol. However - the fan in questiona dn not the club should be fined. That fan is not going to learn manners unless he is disciplined.

For the reaction of a section of Burnley Fans go read an openletter to the Chelsea fans on www.chelsea-mad.co.uk you'll see what I'm talking about.

His a idiot for what his done, could have injured a kid in the crowd for all he knows.
His lucky all he got was a 3 match ban.

Typically, when there is crowd violence, the team also get some kind of punishment. Like when Roma had to play with no fans at all in the CL.

A single fan does not a crowd make. The Burnley supporters were mainly brilliant and really excited about the game. A few rotten apples messed it up. I mean we're not talking the killing 19 people due to crowd trouble FFS - it was individual behaviour and that can be rectified...

Didn't cantona get rest of season ban when he signed for united... i do think he took a swing or a kick, was a long time ago i dont remember, but players can't do what they like cos they are celebs. Someone threw a coin, take the coin to the ref, he will sort it out!!!!

3 matches is fair...

Yeah!!!! Cantona was soooooooo cool. :D

Oh... and Drogba's still an idiot.

And the third thing... those were the old days. The game is so different today. Back then Cantona was one of a few foreigners in a league that was considered substandard to the Italians/Spanish (but mainly the dominant Italians). Less money, less fame... However you cut it - there is more responsibility today than in 9 BA (9 years Before Abramovich)

Hahaha 9 BA.... i like that!!!! Very clever

Well seriously - Abramovich changed the entire footballing world. Even thouigh before him increasingly immense amounts were being spent of players - he was the first foreign investor to take an interest in football due to it being (a) commercially viable and (b) a game that he loves. Well... we could point out that it was old Batesey that was the forerunner, but that old codger would blush to death.

*** Bates for Prime Minister ***
