Who is the better striker?

Drogba

Games: 43
Goals: 36

Rooney:

Games: 44
Goals: 34

I think the stats speak for themselves.

Sigh... Let's also look at what they've won, and stats for their countries. You can't look at one stat and declare a winner.

(Well, apparently YOU can.. lol.)

I would say Drogba.
The guy is powerful, holds the ball really well, strong in the air.
Rooney, can score in the air, but is not powerful. A more intelligent player.

However, it should be mentioned that Chelsea have a better midfield than UTD.
I will still take Drogba.

One stat?

That is all competitions they played in this season.

LoL

Really? Man... I would've thought that those two played for their countries, being that good  Do they not?

Why don't you include games and goals scored for respective national teams, I think Drogba might still come out tops.

OK, put it this way, if you had the transfer money in hand, which striker would you buy?

Yup.

Overall, he is a better striker.

Even though he is an idiot.

i think both have been really good this season, drogba shading it by a few goals. i don't think you can say he is better on the basis of a few goals over a single season.

however, drogba has always been a more consistent goalscorer - his power and pace are valuable to chelsea.

had rooney not gotten injured, i believe he would have surpassed drogba's tally. it must be considered that drogba was away at the AFCON for a few weeks, however he was still in form - while rooney's dip in goalscoring form over the last month or so, is down to injury.

Rooney. A slight breeze could knock Drogba over and his antics in yesterday's match when he couldn't take the penalty sums up his attitude. Not to mention Rooney is much younger and at the end of the day he gets the job done with a lot less bitching and complaining than Drogba.

Bear in mind Drogba is not a penalty taker as well like Rooney.

I would take Drogs any day, he can play all on his own, Rooney can not.

Rooney can play on his own and very well (he did it quite a few times this season)

Funny. I always got the impression from all the United haters that this past season Rooney was United.

No doubting Chelsea has a much better midfield and thus Drogba gets much better service than Rooney. Half the time Rooney has to run to the midfield to fetch the ball himself.

So in fact for me its the other way around, Rooney can play on his own, Drogba cannot.

its like asking whether drogba is a better striker than ronaldo... or whether villa is better than messi

they are different types of players..

as a striker , drogba is best...but all round Rooney is a better player and one of the best in the world...

compare drogba to torres , villa , diego forlan...
