Hey! Interesting article, and very attractive blog! Well done.
Unfortunately the article is not of much practical use to me. I've got my telkom account in front of me. Total: around R3500, of which only R152.55 is for calls.

I dropped my land line.

I work abroad and previously used Telkom dialup when on holiday in SA, but the final straw was a bill of R900 for just over two weeks use of dialup.

I now use an HSDPA modem on PAYG and it's far cheaper and much faster - R389 for 2G.
Skype and SkypeOut works great on HSDPA.

I kept the land line for the connection on the remote monitored alarm system, but that was sorted with the installation of a new type of radio transmitter.
