So who else here is into dropshot fishing?

Ive just gotten into it. Ive always done normal rock and surf fishing and then bass fishing. I prefer the bass fishing as its more fun. Rock and surf can be boring and frustrating.

So now bass season does not have much longer left in it, but I like the style of fishing so someone mentioned dropshot. Went and got myself a full kit, being watched the videos, and now I am all amped to catch a fish on dropshot.

Anyone into this sport? :D Any advice?

Whats dropshot? I love fishing :) + what area are you in?

Where are you based, which area. You can catch a crap load of different species on drop shot.

Basically you drop the lure straight down and jerk it up and random intervals, well, that's how my dad and I do it.

Here in the not so cool PE we tend to catch alot of the red species on drop shot. If we go fish at the Cape Recife side we catch alot more Geelbek.

It's fun, it's also a workout.

korn: Dropshot that I am doing is basically fishing for saltwater fish with lures. At the moment Im fishing for 6kg leervis. Got loads of lures, soft jelly lures (that look like worm, prawns, mullet), spoons and even night poppers :D

Leervis, kob and Kingfish are often caught with it.

Will be doing that in Mauritius soon...not very experienced so I can't help you =P

you mean like jig fishing?
i haven't bass fished in ages. jhb seems a bit dismal in that regard...
love fly fishing. gave up on rock angling ages ago when all the fish buggered off.

fishing = boring

Your post = pointless

OT: This is the second time I have heard of Dropshot Fishing recently. I heard a couple of guys here at work talking about it and they were very amped. I was meant to google it afterwards but forgot to. I want to get into fishing and I may just start here.

/goes to use Google search...

If you can get onto a boat, its a LOT of fun, dropping for some bigguns.

I however am still firmly a fly-fisherman....

I sometimes drop shot at my holiday house off our canal wall, its great fun, dont catch anything big but still enjoy it.

Has anybody tried dropshot on the surf.I will be going to Sodwana Bay in a few weeks and was wondering if I should maybe give it a try.
Any advice will be appreciated.

NECRO ALERT:

I am ready to absorb whatever you can share with me regarding dropshot fishing. On my way to the Garden Route in a couple of weeks, got most of my gear ready and can literally not wait to get there!

Please share photo's of what you've caught, as well as techniques, fishing spots and gear! I am all ears!
