DSC Home Alarm

Basically five resistors and a transistor. The four cables going out connects the same place the keypad gets connected. Even the programming is simple as the libraries are already available in the IDE so you simply just upload the sketch to the Wemos and you are done.

We may do that in the future, having spent a fortune already on the house, I am trying to use existing equipment as much as possible. The DSC system we have has apparently been discontinued so if part or all of it fails I won't have a choice as apparently their new Neo platform is terrible.

Ja, the thing is Paradox is so awesome, once you're used to it all other alarm systems are kak in comparison. I know I sound like a Paradox fanboy, but I've tried them all, DCS, IDS, etc and none of them compare to the quality of Paradox.

We went for Paradox in our current/former house and besides the IP150 needing a reset every now and then and not being impressed with the Insite Gold app, have been very happy with it. The guy we have used for our alarm, remote access, electric fence, CCTv, etc. has started using Ajax Systems so I'll look in to them as well.

I've also seen some interesting stuff with Ajax, but it doesn't feel like it's as solid and proven as Paradox yet.

Good to hear someone else has done it, my DIY skills are dangerous at the best of times and I tend to not muck around with security. My HA has also been out of commission since the RPi I was using ate it's SD card and I had WiFi router issues, the plan is to get it up and running again once we have moved and settled in with all my smart switches and weather station.

Off topic, what weather station and can it integrate with Home Assistant..?

The notifications work 100% but you can't access the alarm. It is a local company in Cape Town, helpful but eventually gave up, not sure if it is the cell phone signal but it just times out every time trying to access the alarm. I'll post a photo of a test rig I have on a spare alarm so you can see the DIY approach and why it is not that difficult.

My current AR installed this exact communicator and it works perfectly fine for all three of us who have the app installed.. though, I should add, we were told by the AR to use the mirhino app which was then rebranded to armMe.. can arm/disarm from the app, anywhere and notifications work..

Olarm did not work for me. Everytime its connected to the key bus like it wants, my alarm works for 2 days then complains about supervision problems on the keybus.

Or, I use the Olarm to disarm the alarm, and then my remotes all stop working ever again until I reboot the whole panel.

Finally, if I arm as Away on Olarm is arms as Away. If i arm as Stay on Olarm is arms as Away..

I might look at an EnvisaLink i've heard they work better. But sitting with an unplugged Olarm i paid money for lol.

I can't remember the specifics, our main security guy wasn't a fan of them, I prefer to use systems that he is familiar and happy with like the Paradox that we had in our last house.

The only reason I have a Dsc system currently is because I have 4 partitions...Dsc systems can have a max of 8 partitions...And as far as I can see Paradox has a max of 2...
