DSL 2750 - Firewall

I have a Telkom DSL 2750 ADSL router at home.

Can I use this routers firewall to block access to the internet from 22:00 to 08:00 the next morning - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. 24:00 to 08:00 Friday and Saturday.

Need to insure the children get decent amount if sleep.

Thinking if blocking using MAC address of NIC'S. Can this also be done to the wi-fi interface?

Sure! Open up the router interface, then go to the Advanced tab. On the sidebar, go to Schedules and add the times and day's you'd like. Once that's done, go back up the sidebar to Parental Controls > Block MAC Address, add in the address, username and select the schedule to created earlier :)

I think it's just so you can easily identify the PC in the list later by giving it a unique name, and doesn't affect the blocking procedure. So if you come back, say, in a month's time to unblock someone, you don't have to hunt through weird MAC addresses, but instead can just pick it out by name :)
 
The 24 year old thinks my internet connection is his to use and abuse as he sees fit, the younger one likes playing games online till somewhere around 04:00, and the youngster is starting to follow his example ...

Might be better if I got the MikroTik RB750 I have forgotten how to configure out of the cupboard ... :(

Uncapped yes 1mb line, stepson is too NAFI and useless, my son might get annoyed and decide to circumvent the old man, which is ok, as I'll twigg on sooner rather than later, and he will have learn't something, so then I just up the ante a bit and wait again, the youngster, will nit be an issue for a few years to come ...

problem you gonna have now, is that the hours will be limited

so one the older one will wanna download while the other is gaming, which is gonna cause drama.

You should schedule ALL downloads between 12am and 06am so it doesnt bother the other kids gaming time.

edit : what is NAFI?? :D

Don't download much, but my little Atom Linux box does all my downloads between 24:00 and 06:00 normally ...

sounds like you get on great! :) they will have to learn the hard way eh!!

you might as well manage P2P protocols while you at it. Next thing you got them fighting about downloading and gaming at the same time! :)
