Wondering if anyone can help... cause im tired of telkom now.

Ok, so backstory....

Beginning of September I moved my DSL account over to WebAfrica because of the Titan deal that they were running. Now my line was running perfectly fine till the switch over September 1. From that moment onwards, my line has been plagued with constant resets while browsing. Funny thing is that if I turn my router on or if it is on and I do nothing, it is fine. The moment I start browsing, it resets.... then it is fine for a period of time, now roughly 3 minutes... then resets. This repeats constantly.

Telkom say that it is my side, but I have tested 2 routers and 2 different accounts and same reaction. It seems weird that it all coincides with my change over but I can't explain it. I did notice that was connecting at 4088kbs down and 507kbs up, whereas it was 4096 down and 512 up... it might mean nothing but it seems significant to me.

My honest opinion is that the line is being sabotaged. Call me paranoid but that is how it seems.

Anyways, has anyone else had this problem... any ideas?

Anyone... PLEAAASSSSEEE.

Else, I fear that my home online life is dead. Was barely online anyways, but now I will give it up totally :/ I don't know what else to do but sure as hell ain't gonna keep paying for this pathetic excuse for DSL service....

If line or account is in the name of Webafrica then you have to complain to them. Then they will complain to telkom for you and fix it. (I find it works better that way than you going to telkom yourself)

An adsl account also would not affect the Adsl

Also post your router stats attenuation, dB's etc

I noticed also you said resets is the sync light flashing or stable when you check the router as the reset happens?

Your line stats are perfectly fine so don't see it being the line itself. It could be exchange/dslam card issue

Have you checked if pots filters are all working right and could you post a tracert to mybroadband.co.za or any other site you like?

also check for static on the line

To answer your question...

I am using the Netgear DGN1000 router... so what happens is that the internet light starts flashing like crazy, then it goes off... followed shortly by the sync light... which goes off and then starts flashing as the router tries to re-establish sync... the other router was able to do this alot faster but it still happened....

exchange/DSLam issue... they said that also... but assuming by now that they have sorted that out... its still happening. I say assuming because they said that there was a faulty DSLam card and by now I hope that they have replaced it, cause last I spoke to them, they were saying that the problem was my side :P

Is your fault number still open or was it closed?

If closed sometimes they can't be bothered replacing it so they close it anyway

As for the POTS filter, they said that also, so I disconnected it and it still happened. Was then told by anther techy that that isnt the cause... and then he tested the line and said that it was fine so... no idea...

Well, they closed it... but it has been opened again and then escalated, thanks to the peeps at WebAfrica :P

your tracert is perfectly fine so that also rules out line itself, but as you say dslam card issue probably wasnt resolved

So guess you have to wait :P

Telkom has no time limit once had to wait over year for exchange/dslam to be fixed
