Hi guys,

Anyway I called DSTV to upgrade my package only to realize that their call center is entirely automated with no room for us to speak directly to a consultant. Thereafter I tried the USSD code- *120*68584* and what do you know...that service gives me an error and my attempt was unsuccessful. I then tried on the dstv service website and there as well, it gets stuck on the loading page with no response. I then go on facebook and post on their page and also message them and they don't even reply. We their customers and the treatment we getting is absolutely unfair. Is there no other way for us, their customers to interact directly with them?

It seems to be a common failing, this absolute lack of customer service from corporations. MTN has similar helplines that don't give you the option of talking to a person, and if you are persistent enough to keep trying different numbers and are by a miracle asked to hold for an operator - the message is "we're busy, try again later". No service. Not from the MTN shop either - they cant answer complicated questions 'cause "they're on strike". The same from Telkom - I bought a wifi modem a week ago, it came with no instructions, nor were they available on the website... I got instructions eventually but I still cant get it connected on my pc. Tomorrow, maybe I'll have the strength to try the helpline again...

Why oh why do people still give "Multi" choice R700 a month for complete lack of service?

their website works for me and so too does their call centre. strange.

When you call the call centre, don't press any options. It'll keep asking you to press something 3 times I think, thereafter it puts you through to a real person.

Dunno about your specific issue but try the DSTV website. I cancelled my account & had the balance paid out to me all online in one message exchange.

Granted it was a while ago and dunno if it's just resignations, but their online process was so efficient I was slightly miffed they didn't put up more of a fight for my partonage.. :erm:

there are probably people here that could advise you how to operate said device. Just start your own thread as that discussion here will go OT... (refering to you being helped. Understand your frustration)

Because it's great value for money for those of us that watch sport. Full coverage of EPL, cricket, rugby, F1, golf, tennis and all major sporting events in general is quite amazing. Comprehensive sports coverage is expensive in the US and UK.

I'm on the R199 Family Package & I can't really complain as well. For me; the misses & my kid it's fine.

There is also the DSTV forum, where a genuine attempt is made by members of that forum to assist with technical issues.

The place to find it is not well labelled on any of DSTVs websites anymore. the site is found at http://forum.dstv.com

As for the call centre: Well If you know exactly what you want them to assist you with then it is not that bad.
The DSTV self service pages are much better than they used to be, but are dependent on getting all your settings correct and passwords loaded. Some pages require a double log in process. The best is to setup a Connect ID, which then gives you easy access to all MC and SuperSport and other websites with one log in sequence.

Having said all the above, MC can be a real pain at times and drive many of us to drink at least once a week.
Weekends are the worst. Trying to get their attention because of a problem with a channel on which you want to watch the Rugby can be almost a waste of time. Then a trip to the nearest Sports bar is called for, hence why the "driven to drink" comment above :)
