Sorry folks. Another one of these...

I am fed up with the cost of DSTV. But Telkom doesn't have fixed line infrastructure in my area. I guess I could run around and get episodes from friends etc, but I would like a simple solution. Any recommendations from people in similar situations? I have a Telkom Mobile 10+10, but I doubt that would be enough.

Ta.

We don't have a telkom infrastructure in my area so i got a wimax 4mb uncapped solution that costs about r1150 a month a r3000 initial setup

Without their infrastructure your options are hectically limited!
Depending on how much you would use I'd suggest Neotel WiMax or iBurst (Only if your signal is 100%)

I was lucky back in the day when I used iBurst I had line of sight to their tower ontop of the water tower in Bryanston, service was always excellent, however their data was relatively expensive (survived on 2GB a month) but everyone else I know without line of sight has terrible speeds and reliability

Not knowing your location maybe try a WISP. level-7 or Amobia?

I'm using Amobia which is R499 for a 2Mb uncapped.

Check the Home 512 uncapped ...

Thanks. I am in Boksburg on the edge of Amobia's coverage map sadly. And I don't know if a 512k line would be fast enough to retain my sanity. Quite a dilemma actually. I can see why so many South Africans end up bending over for Multichoice.

I agree...I think the fee for the DSTV Premium package is too expensive...and the other packages just don't make sense. I still have an MNET decoder and have just activated it again. R297.00 per month and my family can watch their MNET shows and I can watch the rugby and cricket on the Super Sport channel. I get my series elsewhere so its works for me. I miss the History channel but it is what it is.

I thought MNET decoder activations had been discontinued a long time ago?
