Dstv and their unethical practices

I am losing the streaming and the ability to use my walka, neither which need a decoder to work. Imagine if a car manufacture prevented you from driving on the road a certain day because you had the previous version of a car?

What competition is there, if I want to watch the rugby, the cricket and the formula 1, please tell me what other service offers this sport? I want to watch this live as I currently do, not highlights or days late.

The reason for the lack of competition is the reason they do this.

Cry us a river...

You aren't losing services, they've migrated to a different plan. If you want them, pay for them.

Your car analogy is ever so slightly wrong and stupid btw.. but I'm not entirely sure you'll grasp that.

They never sads they were migrating to a new plan, its still the premium package. Amazing how you actually defend this behaviour?

They don't have to say squat... go read the T&C's you agreed to.

I don't actually defend it, I think its wrong... but you are calling them unethical which is complete bollocks.

Its unethical, that my opinion, and you have yours, now please stop spamming my thread, go and make your own

Ethics have very clearly defined areas..

So what is unethical about their conduct please?

And btw, no. I'm not going anywhere.

If you think it unethical, please say what ethical rule it breaches.

Removing a feature I have paid for, and now forcing me to upgrade to continue to have what I currently have. If this is forced by DSTV, then the new decoder should be provided free of charge. Would you be happy if your ISP dropped your speed and charged the same price, and then said no your router needs to be replaced, and this is the unit you need, but it only offers a lan speed of 100mbps, were your version support 1gbps?

No, You have not paid for the feature that is being migrated going forward. You were being given it for "free" as it were as part of your package.

As of the 1st of April that feature is only being offered to users who have the Access Fee on their account.

Again, you example is wrong and stupid.

A better example would be, your ISP provided you with 10mbps Uncapped Interwebs, Free Hosting and a Free Email account. You can also pay extra for access to a News Server. They then modify their accounts so you get 10mbps Uncapped Interwebs, but the Free Hosting and Free Email account are only available to those paying extra for access to the News Server.

I have paid for the feature as it part of the premium service, and you pay extra for the additional walka too? Service might be added free, but technically you are paying for them because the lower end packages do not offer those services. Its marketing to make you believe you are getting more for your money, but that obviously is too difficult for some to understand. No service is free, you are paying for it.

Have you read the T&Cs you agreed to yet?

Is there a line item in the invoice covering the streaming services being part of the Premium package?

And yes, services can actually be free if the company chooses to make them so.

I cant find any specific wording where they say you have to have a specific decoder, although they do say the t&c can be modified, so suppose they will hide behind that. But I still believe its typical of a company that has a monopoly to force this on customers.

Yeah, you didn't read it very well did you.... and no its not typical of a company that has a monopoly, its typical of a company providing a service.

Dont listen to netflix fanbois, you have a valid point, they are screwing you over effectively by forcing you to buy a new decoder to enjoy EXISTING functionality

No, they are not forcing him to do anything.

They are modifying their service offering, as they are allowed to do by law and by their owns T&C's which the OP agreed to when he signed up for the service in the first place.

odd how others here don't seem to see that, maybe they work for dstv, or just have nothing better to do than sit on daddy's adsl account and spam forums.
