Would think it is easier just to pull the smart card out and push it back, than switching it of and restarting. No need to replace the card each time.

I didn't mean buy a new card. Just pull it out and push it in.

Restarting has the same effect, but DSTV in their wisdom forces a rescan (on the DSD990 at least), which is quite slow.
