DStv billing issues - Check your statement

Many DStv subscribers are complaining about they have been overcharged by hundreds of rands in recent months.

“This month my account was debited by R934 more than it should have been. I called to escalate the complaint, but they did nothing about it,” one DStv price lock subscriber said.

Considering what they provide, DStv has been overcharging customers for years now.

The solution is simple... just reverse the debit order if you're daft enough to let MC have access to your bank account...

I can confirm this personally and it became apparent when cancelling my account.

Maybe they should advise their customers with some of those super loud ad breaks about changing from billing in arrears to billing in advance and consolidated billing. Novel idea I know.

Having read the article...

To coin an Apple phrase, DSTV is going the blame the customer route of "you're using it wrong"

My DSTV statement has been unintelligible for a while now. There seem to be mysterious multiple monthly payments of R20, a R99 charge that's gets reversed (monthly) but somehow it all evens out, except when it doesn't.

Last year, I actually had to get them to clear an adverse credit rating their system was automatically lodging every month when I changed banks as the new bank refused to give me an account on the basis of this. They were running the debit order on the exact due date and then posting a late payment notice to the credit agencies every month because the payment only came through a few days after the date of the debit.

TBH, I can't really make head or tail of it, and have never had an explanation for the self-reversing R20 and R99 charges.

Disclaimer: I do not use DSTV personally, I pay for an elderly relative.

Irreversable - at least on FNB
I pay my folks account on Snapscan, but looks like they hit my account using old debit order details that were still valid

I was tripple billed, an amount of R2797 was deducted. I cancelled the debit order chose to eft it every month. This has happened in the past few months enough is enough

Not irreversible.... have a monumental shyte fit with your private banker or the branch manager to get them to sort it out...

I'm also in the process of disputing my account as my Pricelock contract was changed without my consent ...Awaiting response from Multichoice to provide me with proof where I have requested or gave consent for any change to my contract... Pending their response will I lay a formal complain with the Consumer Protection Commissioner

I don't think the new ceo has any clue whatsoever what he's doing . He probably doesn't care.
