I'm about to sign up for DSTV Compact as I require live football in my life :p Just have a couple questions, and would rather ask you guys then phone yet another accounts department.

If I were to sign up and pay on the 27th Dec for example:

1) Would I get billed every consecutive month on the 27th or at the start of each month?

2) If I got billed at the beginning of each month, would I pay a full monthly amount for the last few days of December or does DSTV use a pro rata system?

Thanks!

No pro rata's. If you pay on the 27th for Compact, your viewing service will end on the 27th of next month. Are you talking about a debit order? It's your choice which payment method you prefer, but my mom just pays for Premium or Compact, rotates it. If you don't pay your account get's cut off (no Easy View, Compact or Premium). You can pay on the 20th and next month on the 20th it cuts off. And you can pay again whenever you desire. AFAIK, it's one calendar month.

My contract with them clearly states that I have to give written notice from my side to terminate the contract.
Took me almost 1 year and 2 months to get rid of them, they kept on re-establishing the contract and then back-billing me.

I don't kno, but the people I know including our household, we aren't bound by any contracts, just pay what we want to view that month. If we do not, we don't watch TV.

I would really like to know how you got a DSTV card without signing a contract.
No, really, please tell me how, because that is exactly what I am looking for.

Yes, planning to pay debt order.

So from what you say I will be debited every month on the date I first signed up and then get a month of what I paid for? Makes sense, I just didn't give Multichoice enough credit to make it simple :p

I'd also be interested to know how this is done. Like prepaid airtime?
