DSTV is breaking up badly on rainly and windly days. It's almost impossible to watch a channel. After the rain and wind died down, the SABC Channels and BTV still breakup pretty bad, It's a week now.

Is there a problem with the dish or the decorder, because the other channels place perfectly clear (no breakups)?

I called DSTV help/info and after the test, they said I must have the decorder checked first, if not a problem, I must get the installers out to have a look at the lining of the dish. How much is this going to cost.

If it's the dish or decorder, Why does certain channels play perfect and the others breakup.

Please help.:(

If it wasn't the dish or decoder everybody would be having problems and personally I haven't had any, not sure about anyone else?

Lately channel 250 displays "Poor Signal" or a broken picture, every other channel is perfect.

yes check your signal quality im about to get on the roof cause mine is at 47%

press menu advanced options

if your signal quality is under 52 your in trouble

either get on the roof with walky talkies or call someone in

Its your dish alignment, had the same problem awhile back. It cost me about R250 for them to come out and re-align it (that is what they charge for the first hours work), its a simple process and does not take more than 10-15 minutes.

So just phone around and get the cheapest rate

I have the same problem, however when I record the channel it records fine so I deduced that it is the output that is the problem?

Channels are Mnet, 2 of the sport channels, MM1 but not MM2, the series channel plus a few others.

If I change channels a few times the affected channel eventually displays a clear picture.

Thanx guys for the response.

My signal quality goes from 62% down to 0% all the time on most channels. Sabc channel on the dish remains blank with broken sound. I guess I have to get the guys out to redo the alignment.

Thanx again
Cheers

It could be the LNB aswell they last 2-3 years. I could also be the F connectors on LNB side sometimes the cable rusts at that point. If your dish needed re alignment it would normally happen after a hectic windstorm or someone was hanging off it. I get lots of calls and most times its the LNB,F or a tree branch in the way, after putting a meter on the dish I hardly ever have to re align after replacing stuff or removing the offending piece of tree, dishes hardly move once they installed properly.

Tree branches are the sneaky ones, everything will work and one day the decoder just wont scan after it says signal loss. A bit later it will scan again and pick up channels because the wind was blowing slightly. Normally sky and bbc are the ones badly affected like this.

Gunny it was after the bad wind we've being having, stronge gal force winds, and heavy rain in the past two weeks. I cannot say what the problem is and the breaks are pretty bad most of the time. I am in the Retreat area.
