Hi all

I’m looking to get a new dish...
The previous ppl in the house told me that it got hit by lightning and it keeps on giving me E72 rescaning..
Got my account activated last week,
Want I want to know is do i need to get a nice dish or a new Twin LNB (2 Legacy Ports)
And any prises on it will help as well...

Thanks
Psy

It won't be the dish that is the problem it will be the LNB, get that replaced and you shouldn't have a problem.

Cool thanks any prices on it its for a dual view decoder

Last time I used them it was direct to door for R50 or something, got an optical cable switch, 3 optical cables, 3 hdmi cables and an hdmi multiswitch from them so it was R800 worth of stuff and they shipped it to my companies front desk.

Thanks all will have a look and see what I can get...
And how do I install it to the dish?

take note of how the current one is angled, it should be somewhere around 45 degree's, unscrew cables, remove the 2 screws holding it in place, place new LNB at same angle as previous one, tighten 2 screws, connect cables, done. if there is an issue with signal readjust slightly.

If the LNB is at the wrong angle, you will get 0 signal.
Found it quite interesting when I was fiddling around with my dish and lnb setup the other day. Just the slightest incorrect adjustment, and there's no signal at all.
Managed to get my signal from 90% quality to 100% quality just by adjusting the LNB angle.

Was the old lnb single or daul. otherwise run 2 cables to decoder. Make sure what your fitting method is, i have seen different fittings.

Its a daul one, but there was only one cable running from it.They say if was working like that so I dont know if I need to run 2 cables on it.

It’s a dual view one, one of the olds ones... I only have on normal though don’t need to have the dual view option well not yet... the ppl that staid there before me told me that hade the same one and it was working with only the one cable..

@ D3x do I have to run 2 cables from the LNB or can I only run one from it?
the owner of the place im staying at is saying I only need one cable...

I am not all that clued up but my thinking is if it requires 2 then feed it with 2, i would imagine you would have issues on certain channels with only the one.

here is more info doing setup using only one cable: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/236859-HD-PVR-2-P-single-lnb-installation

perhaps ask Quantum Theory (maybe pm him, he is very helpful) as he seems very clued up.

It depends. It might be a SatCR lnb. From what I understand, only one cable is needed then(?), but you need to configure the decoder appropriately.

Thanks will have a look at the link and pm him if i have problmes thanks :)

yes SatCR = one cable

does the older dual view decoder work on SatCR?
