DSTV Drifta

I managed to pick up signal without any gizmos but now I get a service is scrambled message. What does that mean?

You need to activate your service with DSTV - phone their call centre.

I had the Drifta activated last night. Maybe I need a signal reset?

I will take it to MC just to see if they have any luck before doing that.

No Coverage in any city that did not have FIFA2010 games. Will be extending to more cities later I believe - when later is, nobody knows yet.

How does the Drifta work. is it like a modem and streem the signal on your pc, or does it use your internet cap to view it on your pc. Is it also availible for non dstv people

1) Receives signal via DVB-H and transmits via wifi - does not use internet.
2) It is available to anyone at R36 per month - free to DSTV Premium subscribers.
3) Does not work on Blackberry, Nokia, Android devices or Mac OS.

Some phones can receive DVB-H directly, then you do not need a Drifta.

- The Drifta receives a digital tv signal and displays it on a compatible device. As a result you need to live in an area with Drifta coverage otherwise the device won't work.
- The Drifta connects to your PC or iPAD via USB or Wifi but it does not connect to the internet in any way. Apparently Android devices will be supported in future.
- It is available to non-DSTV subscribers.

Edit: Or refer to Jola'a answer above :)

As if you guys didn't know... Still no drifta app for android despite the dstv mobile twitter account saying, "not long to go" two weeks ago and them saying it will be released in April. Yes. April 2011.

DSTV abviously think they are too big to bother reading these forums - hence their silence and our speculation. They (DSTV) are the Gadaffi and we are the rats and germs not worthy of any attention, replies, acknowledgement etc. etc.

Drifta at a steal

I know this might come across as some commercial spam, but I know you guys love the Drifta and had to tell you about this deal:

http://bit.ly/qkKuhL

Deals site, Dealify (www.dealify.com) has a DStv Drifta for only R299. Time-limited it seems.

Enjoy!

Correct - They all do have their own forums, only many companies do monitor these forums and activily reply to discussions where necessary to resolve problems.

Haven't found the DSTV forums to be of any value - would rather discuss on MBB.

Agreed but certainly a company has the right to assign their paid resources to their own forums if they choose to do so? madmax2010's statement that "DSTV abviously think they are too big to bother reading these forums" is unfair when they do at least go to the trouble of supplying a forum of their own that is read by DSTV staff. It's not like their's nothing available. The Gadaffi comparison is a little ridiculous in light of this.

It's a bit of a mission to register to post comments. I also don't like providing email addresses and maintaining passwords for forums.
